About Mr. Huffstutler
Nate Huffstutler joined Maranatha’s faculty in 2005 after working as a textbook editor while pursuing his graduate degree. Originally from northern Illinois, his interests include music (he plays guitar and piano), baseball, and journaling. “I enjoy teaching writing and am a firm believer in the need for Christians to develop their critical thinking skills through writing in order to serve Christ more effectively,” Huffstutler says. Some of his favorite writers include Shakespeare, Conrad, Hemingway, O’Connor, and C.S. Lewis. His favorite books of the Bible are Psalms, Ecclesiastes, and John. He and his wife, April, have three daughters.
What he loves about teaching at Maranatha
“Maranatha is a wonderful place to teach. The hearts of the faculty and administration are for the students—but also for one another. One major advantage of teaching at Maranatha is the family friendliness of the college. I have been able to balance my personal and professional life better because of the college’s policies.”
Mr. Huffstutler and his family minister at Fellowship Baptist Church in Watertown, where he teaches the college class, participates in the music ministry, and serves as a deacon.
