Biology

Microbiology at Maranatha

Are you curious about how living organisms work and interact? From classifying various forms of organisms to studying plants and animals, Maranatha’s biology major challenges students to ask questions, make observations, analyze evidence, and solve problems in a quest to increase their understanding of the world God created.

Whether you anticipate a career in research or medicine, you’ll get a solid grasp of general biology and the opportunity to pursue more specialized training. The biology major’s pre-medical emphasis equips students with the academic and laboratory skills needed to pursue graduate education in biology-related fields such as medicine, sports medicine, physical therapy, and physician’s assistant programs.

Biology involves issues of ethical and scientific importance today, ranging from origins and cloning to genetic engineering and environmental concerns. The biological science program at Maranatha provides a biblical perspective on current issues and great preparation for students who want to make a difference in the world of biology.

Did you know?

The  number of health-care jobs will increase by 3.2 million from 2008 to 2018, according to the US Department of Labor. Because of America’s aging population and longer life expectancies, the health-care industry will need a massive number of new laborers in the future. A biology major will prepare you for training in more specialized areas of health care.
