Church Ministries

Serving in the local church

Do you desire practical training to lead ministries in the local church? For a well-rounded degree that prepares you to serve in important support roles, the Church Ministries major is an excellent option. You’ll get practical Bible training as well as more in-depth study in theology, pastoral leadership, and church administration.

Men can prepare to serve as an assistant to a pastor, youth pastor, Christian education director, song leader, or missionary. Because some of these positions are not necessarily paid within the local church, consider also pursuing a minor in a marketable career skill such as business or education.

“Whatever God wants me to do, whatever opportunities are there I believe we should take them.” – Evan Moore, Junior

Influencing the local church

Michael Fiocchi (’95) earned his bachelor’s degree in Church Ministries (Missions concentration) at Maranatha before beginning his current ministry serving the Lord at New Hope Baptist Church in Albania with his wife Jennifer. “A Church Ministries major helps tremendously on the mission field,” Fiocchi said. “On many occasions, the missionary must have a practical knowledge of a variety of ministries. Church Ministries gave me that direction. I have taught the nationals many of the classes I took at Maranatha.”

Our faculty knows ministry

“Maranatha is a greenhouse for cultivating spiritual leaders and then sending them out to prosper in other environments,” says Dr. David Saxon. “As a teacher in this context, I find my own spiritual life nurtured daily.”

Our Commitment Statements

Maranatha’s Doctrinal Statement originated in the very first year of Maranatha’s existence. During the summer of 2009, the college Bible faculty and the seminary faculty created an expansion of the doctrinal statement and set forth the following declaration of its commitment to biblical truth and its application of that truth to the lives of its students, staff, and faculty. The purpose of this statement was to make clear to the Board of Trustees the commitment of the Bible faculty to biblical truth and the positions that Maranatha has historically held.
