The church music minor is for students who do not wish to major in music, but still desire to study how to more effectively serve in music ministries. Because Christ-honoring music is an essential part of worship, Maranatha’s music professors are dedicated to teaching Maranatha musicians how to develop their God-given abilities for a versatile music ministry in the local church.
Church minors take approximately 22 credits of courses. In addition to taking standard music courses such as Harmony 1, Basic Music Literature and Aural Skills, church music concentrations also take courses such as Music in the Local Church, Hymnology, Conducting, and Hymnplaying (pianists).
For more information, please be sure to also check out the catalog, the prospective musicians section, the music handbook, and the performing groups.
