Major at MBBC: Youth Ministries/Coaching Minor

Prior to MBBC: Zachary played and started varsity basketball at Barron High School for 3 years. Zach started all 22 games as a sophomore for BHS, and was tied for second in team scoring with 6 points per game. During his junior year, Zach started and was 3rd in team scoring with 8 points per game. The Heart of the North Conference named Zach to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team. Zach was voted to the Heart of the North Honorable Mention All-Conference Team. As a senior, the First Team All-Conference power forward helped lead BHS to their best season in school history with a record of 24-2, reaching the WIAA Division III Sectional Final game. Zachary was the 3rd leading scorer on his team, averaging nearly 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal per game. After his senior season, Zachary was also voted by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association to represent Wisconsin as a participant in the WIAA Division III All-Star Game. “I had a blast! I was able to play with 4 all-stars who were going on to play for NCAA Division I college programs.”

Personal: Zachary was born in Rice Lake, WI. He grew up in Barron, WI, where his parents John and Laurie currently reside. His father is a pastor at Calvary Baptist Church of Barron. Zach played basketball, football, and baseball from the third grade through high school. Zachary is the youngest of 5 children, and is also the last of the siblings to attend MBBC. Zachary’s greatest spiritual influence was his father. His greatest athletic influence was Bruce Rasmussen, who coached Zach from 3rd grade to 8th grade in basketball, football, and baseball, and then also in high school football during his junior and senior seasons. Zachary’s favorite basketball memory was making it to the Middle School Wisconsin State Tournaments in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Zach’s life verse is 1 Corinthians 10:31: “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
