Ministry is at the heart of everything we do at Maranatha, including athletics.
Because nearly 25 percent of our students take part in intercollegiate athletics, all of our student-athletes are already involved in local church work. Others find avenues for ministry through their student societies. Our sports teams are another option for Christian service, and many of our coaches and athletes find effective ways to show Christ’s love through team outreach activities.
- Our football team has taken part in missions trips to Ireland, France, and Israel that also included games against club teams.
- Our volleyball team has conducted clinics in Germany and Guam and annually participates in roadside cleanup as a community service project.
- Our baseball team has conducted clinics as part of a missions trip to the Dominican Republic.
- Our soccer team has led free clinics for Watertown junior high and high school students. A group of players, the Tonal Defenders, has provided singing, preaching, testimonies and instrumental music in several area churches.
Maranatha will also send out soccer and volleyball ministry teams during the summer that will offer clinics while ministering in local churches.
