The 2012 season also marks the first in Maranatha history for the most kills, and points in the Northern Athletics Conference.
Senior outside hitter Torey DeLozier recorded 2,525 kills and 2,882.5 points to cap an illustrious career. She shattered Kayla Leyden’s (Benedictine) previous NAC record of 1,945 set in 2010, and also led the NCAAIII this season in kills per set (5.96).
Senior libero Hallie Sheley, finished her career with 1,097 digs, and sophomore setter Emily Thompson, notched her 1,162nd career assist.
As a team, Maranatha ranked 1st in the NAC in kills per set (12.94), points per set (16.7), and hitting percentage (.272), and finished with their best record (10-4) against conference opponents since joining in 2006.
The team advanced as far as the NAC Tournament Semifinals against #1 Edgewood College, a team the Crusaders defeated early in the season.
In the NCCAA, Maranatha finished with a 14-1 record – their only loss against #1 Clearwater Christian.
Maranatha loses four seniors; DeLozier, Sheley, setter Erin Jochum and hitter Sadie Joutras, but returns a stable group of young talent for the 2013 season.
