CHICAGO, IL – Whether it’s blowout wins over Illinois Institute Technology, on Tuesday, or clutch performances against #4 Grace Bible, the men’s basketball team has certainly been on a hot streak, winning their fourth straight against Moody Bible, by a score of 69-65, on Friday night.

Amongst nine lead changes, and six tie scores, Maranatha came away the victor, against a tough Moody team that shot 53% from the field. The Crusaders trailed just 32-30 at halftime, but scored 39 points in the second half, behind a 20-point performance from freshman guard Brady Moses (Lodi, WI).

Moses had plenty of help, as usual, with 16 points from freshman forward Adam Courtney, who recently provided a big boost for the team with 20 points against Illinois Tech this past week.

Courtney was 4-5 from the three-point line, in an efficient 16 minutes, and hit all four shots from the free throw line, while grabbing five rebounds along the way.

As a team, Maranatha shot 38% from the field, but went 11-13 (84%) from the free-throw line, and despite Moody’s size, were able to keep the rebounds dead even, at 32 apiece.

Maranatha were also able to pick Moody’s pocket on a number of occasions, with nine steals, two apiece from junior guard Tanner Moses (Lodi, WI), and freshman Zach Terpstra (Baron, WI), and everyone except three players finished with a steal.

Freshman guard David Wenthold (Geneseo, IL) also regained his form from beyond the arc, going 4-8 (50%) for 12 points, in 21 minutes.

Senior Brett Cashner (Urbana, IL) also chipped in, with 10 points, on 5-11 shooting from the field, and grabbing seven boards along the way.

Maranatha moves on to face Clarke University, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, in Dubuque, IA.
