Cross Country Men Take 11th, Women’s Places 13th

SOUTH BEND, IN – The cross country team traveled to South Bend, Indiana, to take on host institution Bethel College, Moody Bible Institute, and Judson University, among other institutions, at the Bethel College Invitational on Friday.

The women’s team took 13th place with 395 team points and an average time of 24:05.2 in the 5,000 meter race. Sophomore Margo Watson (Atlanta, GA) led the team with a 20:41.9, recording 37 points while sophomore Kimberly Richerson (Elmwood, IL) crossed the finish line at a time of 23:01.4 while recording 82 points.

Sophomore Caitlin Ebert was the team’s third runner to cross at a time of 23:59.7 for 90 points and freshman Natalie Deman (Frederic, MI) posted a 25:24.7.

The men’s team finished in 11th place in the 8,000 meter race, beating out Judson University, Purdue University Calumet and Holy Cross College as junior Michael Kluver (Sauk Centre, MN) led the way with a time of 30:07.1 for 63 points.

Senior Elijah Walters (Buck Creek, IN) recorded 67 points on a time of 30:34.2, junior Robert Truax (Lexington, S.C.) followed up at a time of 31:21.5 for 70 points and Freshman Caleb Wagner (Sandusky, MI) finished one second behind Truax at 31:22.5.

The men’s team recorded 347 team points and finished the day with an average time of 31:10.4 and looks to build on continued success at the Wisconsin Private College race on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m.
