Crusaders Compete At West Regionals

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Crusaders season came to a close on Saturday with an NCAA DIII West Regional appearance against 11 other teams, including conference opponents, Concordia Wisconsin, Lakeland and MSOE.

The host team, Augsburg College, took first with 143.5 points while Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) and St. John’s took second and third respectively.

In his first Regional match appearance, freshman James Warren (Watertown, Wis.) suffered a technical fall defeat, but fared well with a 10-6 loss in his second against Marcus McCauley (Lakeland).

In the 149-weight class, junior Ricky Warren (Watertown, Wis.) was pinned in his first match and took a major decision loss.

Jesse Gjefle posted three points in a major decision loss against Hugh Ellerman (St. Olaf), and lost a 7-0 decision to Eddie Terres (Lakeland).

Freshman Zachary Zimmerman had success in his second match, losing a tight 8-7 decision against Nichola Chrisner (St. Olaf) in the 133-weight class, while Benjamin Roohr took two losses in the 125-weight class.
