WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Crusaders had their best game of the season in a 78-63 win over the Faith Eagles on Friday night.
Junior forward Joel Borchardt (Watertown, Wis.) kicked things off by scoring the team’s first eight points and putting the Crusaders atop the Eagles 28-21 in the first half.
Borchardt was 3-4 from three-point land for 13 points in the first half to lead the Crusaders to a 40-30 halftime lead.
Maranatha kept their foot on the pedal in the second half, building an 18 point lead that kept them in the driver’s seat.
The Crusaders shot 63% from three-point range in the first half and ended the game at 54.5%. Maranatha limited their turnovers to 11 in the game and distributed the ball well for equal scoring opportunities.
Junior guard Matt Hunter (Pontiac, Ill.) shot 4-6 from three-point range and finished with 17 points, four assists and three steals.
“It was a team victory and we shot well from beyond the arc. We did a nice job defensively on their leading scorer, Dathan Marshall, who finished with 17 points,” Coach Ring stated.
Borchardt ended the day with 21 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Maranatha travels to River Forest, Ill. Saturday to face the Cougars of Concordia Chicago at 4:15 p.m.
