Crusaders Fall Short Against Tigers

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Crusader’s goal for a Midwest Region crown, fell short in a 77-61 loss to the Grace Bible Tigers on Friday evening.

Sophomore guard Matt Hunter (Pontiac, Ill.) led the way with 11 points in the first half, shooting 3-6 from downtown and 4-7 from the field.

Hunter’s efforts kept Maranatha in the game; in a first half that saw six tie scores and only a 35-30 deficit at the half.

Despite shooting 50% in the game, Maranatha were bested by Grace’s 69% shooting from the field in the second half alone. Grace’s Zach Schutte had 23 points and shot 10-12 from the field while Cory Jamieson finished with 19 points.

Grace steam-rolled their way to an 18 point lead before dropping the Crusaders from contention in the Midwest Regional Tournament.

Hunter finished strong on the season, shooting 6-11 from the field and 5-9 from beyond the arc for 21 points and four assists.

Junior forward Joel Borchardt (Watertown, Wis.) finished the evening with 12 points and eight rebounds.
