WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Crusaders toppled NAC opponent MSOE in three sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-19) on Tuesday evening to improve to 15-5 overall and 5-4 in the NAC.

Game one was close as Maranatha pulled away with kills by sophomore hitter Erin Steuerwald (Whitewater, Wis.) to put the Crusaders in the driver’s seat at 11-7. MSOE would attempt a comeback but fell short in the end.

Junior hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) kicked off the second set with several kills leading to a 12-3 lead. They never looked back after that with a combination of kills by DeLozier and sophomore hitter Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.).

Game three was a tough test for the Crusaders as errors and several miscommunications led to an 11-6 lead for MSOE. Maranatha responded by tying the game at 15 on a block by sophomore middle hitter Lauren Schulz (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Peterson to turn the tide. Several costly errors by MSOE and four crucial kills by DeLozier put MSOE away for good.

Maranatha will host Alverno on Saturday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. for Parent’s Day.
