AURORA, Ill. – The Maranatha Crusaders are back to their winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of the Aurora Spartans on Friday night (25-19, 25-18, 28-26). The Spartans didn’t go down without a fight, making the Crusaders prove their mettle in a thrilling 28-26 win.
After losing to Lakeland on Tuesday, Maranatha bounced back and improved their record to 13-4 (4-3 NAC). Junior hitter Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) led the way with 17 kills, 7 digs and 2 blocks (1 solo) while sophomore hitter Laci Peterson’s (Chillicothe, Ill.) defense stifled the Spartans with 4 blocks (1 solo) and nine kills.
Freshman setter Emily Thompson (Watertown, Wis.) assisted 11 kills and junior libero Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) had 9 digs on defense.
The Crusaders turn right around on Saturday to face the Eagles of Benedictine at 12:00 p.m. with the match being played at Aurora due to Benedictine gym repairs.
