Dominican too much for Crusaders

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Stars ended Maranatha’s NAC Tournament run with a 3-0 victory on Thursday night.

The Crusaders kept pace in the first set and held a 12-10 lead on a kill by sophomore blocker Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.).

Three straight kills by junior hitter Torey DeLozier increased the lead to 16-10. Dominican bounced back, eventually winning the set 25-18.

Jacy Lawrence and the Stars overwhelmed the Crusaders with eight straight points before putting away the Crusaders in a 25-7 win.

Maranatha regained its composure in set three by staying within three to four points of Dominican through the first 15 points. Dominican ended any further postseason hopes for the Crusaders by sealing game three, 25-16.

Player of the Year, Torey DeLozier finished the season in the NAC with 15 kills and five digs. Peterson finished with six kills and a block solo.
