MEQUON, WI – The Crusaders suffered the taste of defeat after two straight wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and Grace Bible College, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons on Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons scored twice in the first 10 minutes, both off blocked shots by Maranatha, jumping on the scoreboard at the 3:06 and 9:54 minute-marks.
Freshman forward Wira Wama (Papua New Guinea) followed up Concordia’s second goal with a shot on goal that was turned away by Falcon’s goalkeeper, Eric Vogel, and posted another shot on net seven minutes before the end of a first period that ended with a 3-0 score in favor of the Falcons.
Nearly fifteen minute into the second period, Concordia tacked on their final goal on a cross into the box from eight yards out, but six minutes later, sophomore forward Timothy Rogers (Willmar, MN), on a give-and-go, passed to junior forward Dustin Dolan (Watertown, WI), who buried the team’s first goal at the 66 minute-mark.
Wama and Dolan finished the game with four and three shots respectively, and freshman goalkeeper Alexander Kornivsky (Charlotte, N.C.) took the loss, saving four out of the eight shots he faced.
After the game, head coach Jeff Pill stated, “We came out flat in the first half of the game, but we saw a much-improved effort in the second half with Dolan’s goal on a cross by Rogers. Our JV team is excited about a matchup against MSOE on Thursday and the Varsity looks forward to Parents’ Day against Rockford.”
The JV soccer team squares off against NACC opponent, MSOE, on Thursday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. in Milwaukee, WI while the varsity team faces Rockford at home at 1:00 p.m. for Parents’ Day.
