Morrison, Crusaders Earn NAC Awards

Clayton MorrisonWATERTOWN, Wis. – A season of firsts marked the 2012-13 women’s basketball campaign in the Northern Athletics Conference.

Head coach Clayton Morrison earned his first Co-Coach of the Year Award, along with Wisconsin Lutheran’s Klay Knueppel, after leading the Crusaders to a 21-6 overall and 13-5 conference record—both team records since joining the NAC in 2006.

For the first time in their careers, junior center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) snagged Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors while senior forward Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) was named to the Second Team All-Conference.

Peterson has led the NCAAIII in blocks per game the past two years, averaging 4.89 this season. She also grabs 6.1 rebounds per game in addition to ranking second on the team in scoring (11.1 ppg.).

DeLozier, a defensive presence in her own right, averaged eight rebounds per game (5th, NAC) and ranked second in the conference with an efficient 48.5% shooting from the field.
