Muskies Reel In Crusaders

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The Muskies doubled up the Crusaders 8-1 and 10-4 on a Thursday afternoon in Sheboygan.

Lakeland scored six runs in the third inning of the first game to overwhelm Maranatha and held them to one run in the fourth inning.

An error by Lakeland’s third baseman scored Jana Dempsey (Bath, Mich.), in Maranatha’s only run of the game.

Dempsey (2-5) pitched six innings, allowing 10 hits and eight runs and striking out one batter.

Junior outfielder Autumn Peotter was 2-4 from the plate and first baseman Rachel Ryan (Nampa, Idaho) went 2-3.

The Crusaders fared better in game two by hanging with the Muskies 4-2 through four innings. Lakeland scored three runs in the fifth and sixth to finally pull away.

Maranatha’s two runs came in the sixth inning, one coming off a single by junior outfielder Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.).

DeLozier finished 2-3 from the plate while Ryan (4-3) pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and 10 runs with two strikeouts.

Maranatha moves on to face Marian University on Saturday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. at home.
