Nelson, DeLozier Lead Crusaders To Victory

WATERTOWN, Wis. – After a rough outing against Edgewood on Thursday, the lady Crusaders came out firing, in a 62-47 victory over the Rockford Regents on Saturday night.

 Maranatha fed the ball early and often to junior guard Hallie Nelson (Rockford, Ill.) in the first half, as Nelson helped the Crusaders jump out to an early 16-9 lead.

Rockford pulled to within 20-18 before the Crusaders pulled away for a 32-22 halftime lead.

In the second half, it was junior forward Torey DeLozier (Watertown, Wis.) who helped keep Maranatha on top.

One two possessions, DeLozier stole the ball from a Rockford player and scoring off the turnover to secure a 53-37 lead.

The Crusaders held on for the victory and grabbed win number 10 on the season to improve to 10-7, and 5-8 in the NAC.

The defense held the NAC’s top scorer, Britney Curry to 15 points on 5-20 shooting.  

DeLozier finished with a game-high 20 points, with six rebounds and two steals.

Sophomore center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks, while Nelson finished with 11 points on 5-12 shooting.

The Crusaders move on to face Marian in Fond du Lac on Thursday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m.
