Raiders defeat Crusaders

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A day after finishing 2-0 at the NCCAA Regional Tip-Off, Maranatha lost to MSOE, 56-43 in a NAC matchup.

Maranatha jumped out to a 6-2 lead before MSOE tied it up at eight apiece. MSOE took off on an11-1 run, bringing the score to 19-9. Junior guard Hallie Nelson’s (Rockford, Ill.) jumper at 3:59 left in the half started a mini-run that saw them close the gap to 26-20 before the half ended at 27-22.

Junior guard Kristin Morrison (Jefferson, Wis.) and sophomore center Laci Peterson (Chillicothe, Ill.) hit crucial shots to give Maranatha a 31-28 lead at the 16:51 mark.

That would be the last lead for the Crusaders, who later pulled to within 49-43 before MSOE won.

Morrison finished with 15 points and four steals and junior guard Autumn Peotter (Waupaca, Wis.) punched in 11 points and five rebounds.

Peterson grabbed 7 rebounds and took advantage of her 6-1 frame with 5 blocks.

The Crusaders move on to face Marian at home at 7:00 p.m.
