WATERTOWN, WI – The women’s basketball team bolted out to a 14-2 lead in the first six minutes against the Mount Mary Blue Angels, and never looked back, handing the visiting team, out of Milwaukee, a lopsided, 74-42 defeat on Friday evening.

When halftime rolled around, Maranatha had secured a 16-point lead, and had accumulated an 18-6 advantage on paint points.
The second half never saw Maranatha lead by less than 16, and peaked to as much as 33 points, thanks to 23 points from sophomore forward Stacy Reinke (Clintonville, WI) and 14 points apiece from seniors Allison Schulz (Chillicothe, IL) and Erin Steuerwald (Whitewater, WI).
The team’s 33-point margin came after three straight baskets, two coming from Reinke, who hit a three-pointer in the closing minutes for a 72-39 lead.
Maranatha closed out the game with a basket by freshman guard Bethany Schimkus (Fairfax Station, VA), and Maranatha snapped a two-game losing streak.
