Warren Finishes Third At NWCA Tournament

MBBC vs Lakeland30MILWAUKEE, WI – Sophomore wrestler James Warren’s strong performance highlighted the wrestling team’s NWCA Tournament, as Warren grabbed third-place in the 149 weight-class on Saturday, at MSOE.

Warren, after falling to the #1 seed, Jacob Maechtle (Lakeland), faced TreJon House, of MSOE, and won by a decision score of 10-4, winning third place in his weight class.

Jame’s brother, Ricky, jumped up into the 157 weight-class, suffering a fall in each of his matches, and senior Oliver Klein (Alexandria, VA) also wrestled in the same class, losing his first match before posting four points in a 12-4 decision loss to the #4 seed in the tournament, Eric Vogel (Knox).

In the 184 weight-class, senior Jesse Gjefle (Ontario, WI) lost his first match by fall, but went the distance against Mac Braylock (Concordia), losing just 7-6.

Maranatha also got a win from freshman Dan Kiesling (Lainsburg, MI), who lost to #3 Rainger Rossway (Lakeland) in his opening bout, but came back to pin Jonah Mrozinsky (MSOE) in at time of 2:06.

Junior Zachary Zimmerman (Trevor, WI) also made a step up into the 141 weight-class, suffering a loss by fall in both of his matches, the last one against the #1 seed.
