About the Library

The Cedarholm Library and Resource Center exists to support the educational and spiritual objectives of Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Constituents are served by dedicated staff and student assistants who actively seek to bring information and patrons together. The library, named after the founders of Maranatha, Dr. and Mrs. B. Myron and Thelma Cedarholm, has more than 124,000 books and periodicals (with a special emphasis on Baptist and Bible materials) and offers a media center with instructional material curriculum. Mrs. Cedarholm served as a librarian for 20 years. The Cedarholms, strong supporters of the mission field, brought back many souvenirs from their travels. Today, these items are on display in the Cedarholm Library.

The Cedarholm Library also houses the personal library collection of the late Dr. Richard Weeks, a member of Maranatha’s Bible faculty. The collection is on loan courtesy of his estate and includes an extensive array of books on Baptist history and heritage.

The library offers one computer classroom and one computer lab, totaling 42 computers. Several workstations house specialized computers (such as music, nursing, and Bible) to aid in student research. In addition to the labs and specialized computers, the library also has 12 computers in study carrels throughout the building for student research and writing.

Opened in 1996, the Cedarholm Library has more than enough resources for every need, from in-depth research to casual reading. The beautiful building has a professional, comfortable atmosphere. A web-based OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog),  specialized computers as well as an abundance of  computer-equipped workstations, a well-equipped media center, and instructional material curriculum are just a few of  the resources beyond the scope of traditional holdings. Bible study tools abound as well making this library a strong research core for Maranatha’s students, whatever their field of study.  The Cedarholm Library desires to provide students with user-friendly access to information and to help students become lifelong learners to the praise of His glory.

Research assistance is available whenever the library is open. Please ask for help at either the Testing Desk, the Circulation Desk, or contact a librarian online. Your question will be answered as soon as possible.
