Library Collections

Reference Collection

The libraries reference collection contains resources which are compliations or lists containing smaller, broader information elements. Some of which include encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, and annuals. Since students general use these items briefly these resources remain in the library and this collection does not circulate.

Weeks Collection

Dr. Richard WeeksDr. Richard Weeks (1918-1993) along with his wife, Marilynne, and daughter Ruth, joined the Maranatha Baptist Bible College faculty in 1968. He taught Bible, pastoral studies and Baptist history at Maranatha for the next 20 years. Dr. Weeks could be found on the sidelines during football games and wrestling meets, accurately keeping the statistics. At pep rallies, his 10-point quizzes fired up the crowd.

A recognized Baptist historian, his extensive library (more than 4,500 volumes) of historical and theological works from around the world is on loan to Maranatha from his estate. These materials are only available for use in the Cedarholm Library and Resource Center but may be found both in the Reference and Heritage Room collections. Contact the Library for a complete list.

Heritage Room Collection

The Heritage Room has the distinct privilege of containing over 200 rare, valuable, and historical items that have been acquired by or are on loan to the Cedarholm library. These can be viewed within the Heritage Room with permission.

Fundamentalism Files Collection

Our only topical collection, the Fundamentalism Files have nearly 900 newspaper, magazine, and journal clippings from the personal study of Dr. Cedarholm during his time at Maranatha. It provides a unique perspective into the history and times of the development of the Fundamentalism movement in the mid-nineteenth century. These materials are primarily stored for research purposes and as such do not circulate.
