Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings in the name of the Lord. Thank you for your prayers and support. We had our first service October 4th. We had 6 in attendance. Our first Wednesday night service we had 13 in attendance. October 11th we had 6 in attendance. Pray for Evelyn who is really close to being saved. We continue to do a discipleship class with Felix and his wife Paola. Praise the Lord both Paola and Felix have accepted the Lord. We are doing a discipleship Bible study with them. We are also doing a discipleship Bible study with Gabriela. We are also doing a study with some ladies on Friday mornings.

Prayer requests:

1. For Pastor Luis and Perla as they lead the church in Ensenada.

2. That we would be able to raise the needed support. Pray that some of the churches that we visited that don’t support us will be lead by the Lord to support us. We will be back in the Mid-West from the middle of April 2010 to the middle of October 2010. I am already starting to try to schedule meetings in new churches. Pray that I will be able to fill the schedule and that we will be able to raise the needed support. If you would like to have us come, or know of someone that does, please let us know.

3. Open doors as we try continue to visit door to door in Sauzal.

4. Pray for the salvation of Fabiola, Abimalech, Johana, Agustin, Julio, Arnufo, Diana, Brandon, Jose, Manuel, Lupita, Bety, Macrina, Arturo, Dora, Ana Maria, Chavela, and Evelyn.

5. Spiritual growth for Felix, Paola, Gabriela, and Gustavo.

Yours for Mexico,

Don & Susan Holmes

Hello Friend,

The Baptist Youth Mission (BYM) has just finished a great summer. A printed letter will be out next week. If you do not receive a printed copy and would like one, please reply to this email with your mailing address.

The letter has some very important announcements about the services we provide to local churches. We are going to have to make some uncomfortable but necessary changes. The letter was posted at www.bym.org on October 1st.

After 20 some years traveling, gleaning and learning from hundreds of churches, we have synthesized a great deal of vital and effective information. We are constantly being asked to come and consult, write a book or consolidate and present our findings. Many pastors and churches are anxious to learn effective methods and techniques. They are ready for some innovative, yet Biblically sound tactics and ideas.

This condensed, but certainly not completed information comes from the great generosity of our supporting churches and private donors. Without them we certainly would not have had the opportunities that have allowed us to minister and now educate others.

We also want to express gratitude to our sending church (Beacon Hill Baptist of Cheyenne, WY) for so faithfully supporting BYM and the new church plant in Sinclair, WY (Sinclair Baptist Church). The new church plant has been the testing and proving ground for so many of the concepts we have used in other churches over the years.

We feel a great responsibility as stewards to transfer as much of these learnings as possible. As you analyze your effectiveness in your community, perhaps, as a steward, you will find you are among the many churches that need to take the Next Step.

In the next few days you will receive an e-mail with more details.

Serving the Lord with Gladness,

Mike Holmes
Executive Director, BYM
Pastor, Sinclair Baptist Church

News and Events for the Friends of Baptist Youth Mission

Memorial Day is just around the corner. Make plans to attend the big picnic and special services here is Sinclair. Games begin at 10:00, the potluck style lunch is at 11:45 and the service at 1:30. This year's service focuses on the old time camp song. A special message will be followed by our annual evangelist commissioning service.  Grills and drinks will be provided by BYM.

Special Offering- BYM is taking a special offering to assist in the renovation of our front entryway. We have a total need of $7,400 of which we have about $2,600 already collected. Please help us  as we repair and renovate these important features of our building.

Golf Tournament- Calling all golfers!  Please come to Sinclair for The 2nd Annual Golf Classic.  Last year we had a great turnout of pastors and fulltime workers from 4 states. This year we are hoping to increase the attendance by opening it up to all friends of BYM.  That's right, If you a are golfer and would like to come to our tournament, you are hereby offically invited.  There will be plenty of prizes for golfers of all skills.  The putting contests will begin at 10:00 and the Shotgun Scramble will begin at 11:00 a.m. on June 14th.  There will be a luncheon and an awards ceremony at the Parco Inn following the tournament. The cost is $62 and includes 18 holes, a cart, lunch and plenty of prizes for all.  All the proceeds beyond our expenses will go toward the the Entryway Revovation Project.

Alaska this summer?  We have had a nice van donated but still need someone to drive it to Anchorage for us.  Please call soon if you are interested. 307-324-4800.

Touch Eternity....- Great things are happening in our administration and program offices, thanks to a generous gift given in memory of Elaine Woodrome of Ottawa, Kansas.  This summer we should finish the renovation these funds began, but the impact will go on for eternity.  New carpet will be going down next Monday in two areas and new windows and walls are on the way in June.  If you would like to make a donation in honor of a loved one please call Mike Holmes, Executive Director. A nice plaque will honor your loved one and you can do something that will touch eternity.

Mike Holmes
