And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men,
who shall be able to teach others also. II Timothy 2:2

The focus of Maranatha’s 2009 Missions Conference will be on several unique fields of ministry.

The speakers during extended chapel sessions Oct. 26-29 will include Jan Milton, founder of Operation Renewed Hope; Sam Slobodian, Field Director for Baptist International Evangelistic Ministries; and Sen Hmung, a pastor and seminary president from Myanmar.

Milton (left), former pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C., founded Operation Renewed Hope in 1991. That organization is quite familiar to Maranatha students, as ORH has helped organize medical missions trips in which college students have participated over the last four years. ORH also helps coordinate disaster relief efforts, both in the U.S. and worldwide.

Slobodian, BIEM Field Director for Russia and the Ukraine, will be accompanied by missionary Rick Barry and two Ukranian pastors. Slobodian was a pastor in the Chicago area before beginning his service with BIEM in 1982 and establishing an Indianapolis office in 1993. BIEM has trained and equipped national pastors, distributed Bibles and Gospel literature, translated and printed materials and helped plant and build churches in Russia and Eastern Europe. His daughter Stephanie, 20, is a Maranatha student.

Hmung is pastor of Biblical Church of Christ in Myanmar and also President of Doulous Theological Seminary. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and evangelistic meetings in his country and has worked as a translator for both Christian books and Christian visitors, including Maranatha faculty members Dr. Larry Oats and Dr. Monty Budahl.

The conference speakers will also interact with students on Monday night (Oct. 26) during the Delta Force missions prayer group meeting.
