11-13-09 Jaeson ('98) and Julie Tobin-- Jaeson, assistant pastor at Tomah Baptist Church was killed last night in a car crash. Pray for Tomah Baptist Church and his parents, Pastor Ron and Pat Tobin. Also pray for Pastor Tom and Marie Baker (Berean, Camp Douglas) who are parents of Jaeson's wife, Juli. In addition pray for Juli and their three children as they deal with this unexpected tragedy. We will pass along the memorial service arrangements when they are available.

Jaeson was serving as assistant pastor working with the youth and also just this school year had become the school principal of Tomah Baptist Academy.

11-10-09 Mark('73) and Tacy (Bradford, '72) Tolosa-- Today, our friends' (less-than-one-and-a-half year old daughter) Agne (AHG-nay) fell from 2nd floor. Her skull is cracked in two places. She is in intensive care. We don't have much other information, and the prognosis is unknown. We know they would REALLY appreciate your prayers!

11-9-09 Garth ('85) and Lynnette (Hayward, '85) Piper--Thank You all so much for praying. Dad seems to be making a full recovery. He was released from the hospital today, the doctors don't seem to know for sure what has happened, maybe it had something to do with his blood pressure being quite low. I really appreciate you praying. It has been a very busy and trying time here in New Zealand of late, and concerns back in the states were making things harder.

11-5-09 Garth ('85) and Lynnette (Hayward, '85) Piper-- I would like you to pray for my father. My dad is 87 years old and has been doing ok with his health but yesterday while he was at one of his grandchildren's volleyball games he collapsed. He was attended to by EMT's that were at the game and was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he has undergone a heart cath, resulting with one stint being put in. Read rest of the story.

11-5-09 Richard Hammers ('76)-- Please be praying for a 10 yr. old girl named Danielle Bartlett who is recovering from a brain tumor. Danielle does know Christ as her Savior but  does ask that people would send her cards. Please pray and be an encouragement to this little girl. Her address is 260 Country Club Drive, Richwood, WV 26261.

10-26-09 Josh ('00) and Wendy (Gardocki, '98) Nelson-- Josh is pursuing seminary via correspondence and video classes in addition to his daily duties as Chaplain's Assistant.

10-19-09 Bryan Lenartz ('08)-- Bryan broke his leg last week while playing soccer in Guam. He was flown to the Philippines for surgery and came through fine. Please pray for his healing and recovery as he continues working as an intern for Harvest Ministries in Guam.

10-7-09 Dan and Laura (Oesterle, '92) Gillette (Missionaries to INDIA)--Please keep our family in prayer as my husband and 2 older children, Asha and Isaiah have been sick with Dengue fever. I am concerned because if someone gets Dengue 2 times in one season, they can have internal bleeding. There were some cases in the hospital with children and adults having internal bleeding. Dengue is a real problem in Delhi, and this is the first time anyone in our family has gotten it. Please pray that our family doesn't get Dengue again.

10-1-09 Reinhard ('79) and Patricia Schumacher--  Please be in prayer for the Schumacher family. Patricia went home to be with the Lord last week. The funeral was this past Monday.

His long struggle with cancer is now over as he is face to face with his Savior. Please continue praying for the family. Funeral details are forthcoming.

8-13-09 Don ('75) and Grace (Potter, '75) Albright-- Update from Jan Albright (Don's Mom)-- Thank you for your prayers in Don and Grace's behalf. Don had an appointment with the cardiologist yesterday afternoon. They are sure that it is his heart. Every time he had what they thought might be some kind of seizure, his heart rate would drop to 30 and if he was standing or sitting he would pass out. While in emergency, when he was lying down, he didn't pass out when his rate dropped. He is very tired and advised to do nothing until they can determine the problem. The doctor suggested that he may need a pace maker.

Given Don's recent health situation, his church voted to take Rob ('95) and Joanne (Albright, '01) Pfeiffer on part time which will be a tremendous help to Don in the ministry.

8-12-09 Gary ('72) and Mary (Cummins, '73) Gearhart-- Please be in prayer for the Cummins family. Dr. David Cummins' health has been failing and is now nearing his graduation to glory. Dr. Cummins was an original board member and has five children and 11 grandchildren who are MBBC graduates.

8-10-09  Don ('75) and Grace (Potter, '75) Albright--Don and I appreciate the responses we have received since news of his health crisis this last Saturday, August 8 has reached many of you. We wish to update the initial information. Don did have an episode while driving on Saturday near Northland Camp. It was followed by one in the ambulance and one in the emergency room. What we believed to be seizures were likely heart-related problems, a shock to us. We are home in Flint now and he sees a cardiologist on Wednesday. Until this is resolved he is to rest and not drive. Please, pray for a resolution and opportunity to use this for His glory.

7-31-09 Jerry ('89) and Marcele Kolwinska-- Ruth Anderson, Marcele's mother passed away yesterday morning. The family appreciates our prayers as they travel to Iowa for the funeral at the Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City. Jerry will be preaching. The funeral will be handled by the Peterson-Lund Funeral Home, (9:30 a.m. visitation; 10:30 a.m. service). They rejoice in knowing that she knew the Lord as her Savior.

7-29-09 Pastor Rich ('77) and Micki Akins-- Please be in prayer for Pastor Akins as he has a 1:00 appt. today at the UW Madison hospital to have his pacemaker put in. He will be staying overnight which should help him feel much better.

7-27-09-- Jonathan and JoDee (Watson, '02) Crocker--Please pray for our son Noah. He will have hand surgery on Wed. July 29th. They are going to rebuild the growth so his thumb will grow correctly. Also pray for our family as we are seeking God's direction for a job. My husband Jonathan was let go last Friday for refusing to go against what he believed was right. God is good and we are trusting in Him.

6-12-09 Bob ('87) and Margie Engelheart-- Just wanted to ask you to pray for Margie who will have surgery Monday morning in Abidjan to remove her gall bladder. It is to be done by an experienced surgeon at one of the best hospitals. Please pray that all would go well and that she would return home the next day as planned.

6-8-09 Rob ('84) and April (Childs, '84) Thompson-- Rob had a heart attack over the weekend while visiting his dad in Marshalltown, IA. Rob’s father is in poor health, and he was visiting his dad to share the gospel with him. April will be traveling today to be with him and bring him home mid-week. Pray for God’s protection over their entire family while they are apart from one another and for God’s strengthening Rob during his recovery time.

6-5-09 Marc ('90) and Charin Patton-- I got a call at 3:30 this morning to inform me that the 23 year old son of one of our fine church ladies had been killed in an automobile accident. The saddest thing about it is that to the best of our knowledge he was not saved. His mother was saved and baptized in our church about 10 years ago, but her son did not want anything to do with church. It was a shock to all of us. He was driving alone and went off the road and hit a concrete electric pole. His car caught fire, and he was burned beyond recognition. His mother is a single mother with two grown children living at home. For those of you who have visited us in Hungary the mother's name is Judit Holdampf, her son's name was Norbert, and his sister's name is Reni. Judit and Reni are key, very active members of our church, so it has hit us all hard.

Please do keep this family in your prayers. I am not sure if we will get to do the funeral or not. Norbert's father has been antagonistic toward our church and may insist on a Catholic funeral. We will see.

6-5-09 John ('81) and Judi Robinett-- John and Judi need funds to replace an aging laptop and also $1300 for medical insurance.expenses. Please lift up the following request for John: "I went for my visa renewal physical and they did an electrocardiogram which showed something "abnormal" but I don't know what. The concern right now is that it could keep me from getting my visa and work permit renewed. We are very concerned." Please lift the Robinettes up in prayer.

5-26-09 Debbie (Wagner, '86) Anderson went home to be with her loving Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Please be in prayer for the family during this time.

5-18-09 Randy ('91) and Sarah (Berlin, '89) Arbogast-- Randy's dad, Howard Arbogast went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday. He was surrounded by all of his children and wife as he saw his Savior face to face. Howard was busy in the early years of MBBC building Dr. Cedarholm's house, all the faculty buildings along Main St. and the first ladies dorm. He also was involved in building projects for Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and IBC in Tempe, AZ. The funeral will be in Watertown either Monday or Tuesday.

5-11-09 Sarah (Clucas, '01) Caucutt-- Please be in prayer for Sarah's grandma, Grace Clucas, as she had a mild stroke last Wednesday which put her in the hospital. Sarah's parents are attending to her and monitoring the next steps to take in her care. She is 86 and a believer.

5-8-09 Mikayla (Kuhlman, '08) Jaspers-- Please be in prayer for the Kuhlman family. Mikayla's Mom, Terri went home to be with her Savior early this morning.

5-1-09 Norman ('87) and Mary Brewer-- We would ask your prayers for some urgent medical needs that Mary has been experiencing. She has been having trouble again with her esophagus and now has some other issues that need to be addressed. She had another episode last night with food stuck in her esophagus that caused her tremendous pain.

The American doctors here in Tirana have advised that she go to Athens for surgery that may be able to fix all her stomach problems. There are still some things to work out. We will need precertification for our insurance. We also need to secure travel flights and a hotel near the hospital. Please pray that all these things go smoothly and that Mary will soon be feeling better. Her doctor has advised her to eat only puree foods until the surgery.

4-24-09 Dave ('86) and Debbie (Wagner,'86) Anderson-- We've been enjoying not having frequent visits to doctor's offices and hospitals over the last several weeks since Deb's been off chemo. Thankfully, Deb's blood counts have stayed pretty stable, though, as would be expected, her tumor markers continue to come up. Deb sleeps plenty and spends most of her waking hours resting in her recliner. She has experienced a loss of strength, noticeably in her legs, but after seeing her oncologist on Tuesday, this could partially be a medication side-effect, so Deb's cutting back on the dosage a little. Many folks from our church have become involved in helping stay with Deb and assisting in household needs -- what a burden-lifter! Deb's parents are with us daily as well, providing plenty of love and care. Hardly a day passes without someone dropping us a card, note, or email. Thanks for all the encouragement and help. With friends and family like that, our cup really is running over!

Every day is a wonderful gift from the Lord. With His help, we can rejoice in it.

4-22-09 Bob Reeise ('76)-- Please pray for Pastor Bob Reeise as he leads an evangelistic outreach to Nicaragua on April 27th through May 15th. Thirty-four services are planned to get the gospel out to as many people as possible. Previous trips have yielded much fruit, please ask the Lord to bless His Word for His glory.

4-20-09 Pat ('86) and Mary (Rhine, '84) Delaney--  The weather was gorgeous in Taiwan on Friday, April 17th making it a wonderful day of merry making and photo taking. During the afternoon we began our bicycle ride around the entire island. At approximately 3:15 PM while we were rapidly descending a hill, Mary turned to look behind her which resulted in her losing control of her bicycle and falling into an open rain drain. In going over the top of her bicycle, she came down face first onto the concrete of the drain. Initially, we were very concerned about the level of trauma and type of injuries she may have incurred. We were taken by ambulance to the first hospital on the island where arrangements were made for us to be transported immediately by the coast guard back to the main island of Taiwan. That was a thirty-minute journey over very turbulent seas. Upon arrival at the coastal hospital of Donggang a full array of CT scans and x-rays for conducted. The results revealed Mary suffered a broken and dislocated jaw. There were no other signs of serious injury to her brain, other bones or internal organs. For this we cannot cease to praise the Lord. Pastor and Mrs. Matt Hanna drove to Donggang to meet and assist us with translation at this hospital. With the results of the scans on CD’s I requested an ambulance to rush us back to our home city of Kaohsiung, which was thirty minutes away. Upon our arrival at Veterans General Hospital in Kaohsiung we were greeted by our church members, one of whom is a doctor at this hospital. Mary went through another complete series of CT scans and examinations. The course of action fluctuated until the surgeon arrived late in the evening. Initially we had been told surgery might not be attempted until Monday in order to give the swelling time to subside. However, after Dr. Young evaluated Mary late last evening he told us the two possible types of surgery for injuries of this nature. The preferred approach was to go in through Mary’s mouth and insert an upper and lower plate and wire her jaw shut. Her surgeon was trained at Washington State University in Seattle, and he has preformed this procedure countless times. Mary came through the one hour surgery very well. As I write she is completing the two hour post operative period. Doctor Young said she could be discharged within two days, and even suggested she could go home as early as Sunday. We are rejoicing in this good news.

Provided there are no complications, Mary’s jaw will remain wired shut for six weeks. That is the initial healing period of healing for the jaw. However, complete healing lasts a total of three months. Please pray for her healing, and please pray for no additional injuries that could appear subsequent to the accident.

At this point we have a lot to thank the Lord for. This event could have been far more tragic with a host of various scenarios. Please, please, pray for Mary’s healing and for our family as we make the adjustment to meet Mary’s needs.

Dear friends, my wife is one of the most exceptional, talented, and sacrificial wife a man could ever hope to have. She is absolutely irreplaceable. Please pray for me as I seek to love Mary in a fuller and more sacrificial manner.

4-15-09 Jonathan and JoDee (Watson, '02) Crocker-- Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our daughter Kallissa. She is still not eating what they would like, but is showing some weight gain now. The doctor has placed her on a new formula, which is expensive. Kallissa will go to a pediatric GI specialist on Thursday to see what is causing the blood in her stools. Also, her newborn screening came back abnormal for an endocrine disorder. They repeated the test to see if it really is abnormal or if there was a false positive. We should get the results back next week at her checkup. I continue to battle with my iron level being on the low side, but for now they aren't going to do another transfusion and will check it again next week. God is good, and we know that we can trust Him. Through all of this we are learning to trust Him completely even in those things that we don't understand. We know Kallissa is in God's hands and this is the best place for her. As we face each obstacle our prayer is that we as a family will trust God completely and that as we trust that God will work His perfect will, and will also present us with opportunities to witness and be a blessing to others. Thank you so much for your continued prayers.

4-7-09 Steve and Cindy Stratford-- This is the day we’ve been waiting for since we were discharged from acute rehab and began fighting any cellular cancer that remained in Steve’s body with radiation and chemotherapy.  The MRI Steve had today revealed that the glioblastoma multiforme is growing back and spreading rather than being affected by the first attempt of chemotherapy and radiation; therefore, his oncologist has prescribed changing chemotherapy to Avastin, which is administered intravenously.  Steve’s first treatment of this will be on April 15.

We had, of course, hoped we would have had better news to share with all of you.  After hearing the news ourselves, we had to remind ourselves that the fight is not over; the strategy has just been changed.

Once we got home, we had a sweet time in God’s Word with our pastor and his wife.  Psalm 46 reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear,” no matter what.  We needed a quiet afternoon to “Be still, and know that God is God: He will be exalted in the earth,” and it is our desires that He be exalted in and through our lives.
Steve’s sister gave us a card when she visited us in acute rehab.  It says:

When you are the neediest, He is the Most sufficient.
When you are completely helpless, He is the most helpful.
When you feel totally dependent, He is absolutely dependable.
When you are the weakest, He is the most able.
When you are the most alone, He is intimately present.
When you feel you are the least, He is the greatest.
When you feel the most useless, He is preparing you.
When it is the darkest, He is the only Light you need.
When you feel the least secure, He is your rock and fortress.
When you are the most humble, He is most gracious.
When you can’t, He can!

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory . . . .” Eph. 3:20-21.

We continue to covet your prayers for us and for those caring for us.  Steve is not in pain.  He has not had any focal seizures in over a month.  He continues to show signs of physical improvement, especially when he can get sufficient rest and work on his therapy.  We both still look forward to serving the Lord “To the Praise of His Glory.”

Serving our Risen Savior and resting in Him, Steve and Cindy

4-3-09 Jonathan and JoDee (Watson, '02) Crocker-- Please pray for Kallissa, our daughter. She was born on March 27th, 4 weeks early. She has lost 14oz since being born, and they are not sure why.(She has lost 13% of her total body weight.) We had a doctors appointment today and he wants to see her again on Tuesday for a weight check. They want her to be eating 60ml at each feeding. The most she eats currently is 30ml and this takes about an hour and a lot of coaxing. Please also pray for me as my iron level continues to be low and they will check on Tuesday to see if I need another transfusion.

We do thank God for the wonderful blessing of our daughter and we rejoice in His perfect timing. We had a doctors appointment on Friday (March 27th) and it was moved back by an hour due to an emergency. Everything looked fine, so we made our next appointment. We were heading out of state to spend some time with family, and the doctor cleared our travel plans because nothing was happening. My husband dropped me off at home and not even 5 minutes later, my water broke. I was admitted to the hospital at 11:00 am and by 4:28 pm Kallissa was born. God is so amazing. If things had gone according to our plan, we would have been driving in the middle of nowhere, and not even remotely close to a hospital. But God's timing and plan is perfect, and He takes care of even the smallest details of our lives when we trust Him to do so.

3-30-09 Earl ('88) and Amy (Romkee, '84) Martin-- A little over two years ago we asked for prayer for Amy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. We thank you for your prayers and praise the Lord for His grace and healing. Amy is doing very well and continuing to become cancer free. Thank you again for your prayers!

3-24-09 Phil ('05) and Tiffany (Harris, '06) Anderson--Update of Prayer request dated 3/11/08 I was eventually diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. After given a chemo drug in September, my blood levels have remained stable for the past 6 months and I no longer have to see my hemotologist. The doctors say it is possible that it may return, but since they don't know what caused it, that is all they can tell me. Thank you very much for all of the prayers! Tiffany

3-12-09 Dave ('86) and Debbie (Wagner,'86) Anderson-- I'm sitting with Deb at the hospital while she is receiving another blood transfusion. She became quite symptomatic of low hemoglobin yesterday, and after some blood work was done, the doctors determined that it would be wise for another transfusion, thus the day at the hospital today. Deb will be going for an MRI of her back later this afternoon. On Monday we met with the oncologist to get results from an MRI of Deb's brain. We were grateful to hear that the cancer has not spread to any areas of the head. Some more serious news was that we've come to a point where the chemotherapy is no longer being effective against the cancer, and the side effects from the chemo are becoming too potent, so it has been decided that Deb will no longer receive chemotherapy. There are no more chemotherapies that will be of any help for Deb. The prognosis, humanly speaking, is not good, but we find peace in trusting in our Great Physician's love, wisdom, and care over the next months. The MRI today is to determine if some of the cancer is pinching nerves in her back thus creating some of Deb's problems. If this is found to be the case, then she may receive several radiation treatments to help relieve these issues.

On Monday, Deb's folks arrived back in town for the summer, and will be staying with Deb regularly. It's been a big blessing having my mom with us for the last couple of months. She's heading home on Friday to see if she can get my dad and David Jr. back in line after they've been "baching" it while she's been with us. What a job! ;-)

Thanks again for all your prayers, support and help. Though there have been tears and quiet times, the kids and Deb and I are finding God's gracious care more than sufficient to meet our needs, surely in answer to your prayers.

3-5-09 Dave ('86) and Debbie (Wagner,'86) Anderson--Since the last update, Deb has spent much of her days resting and sleeping. At least some of this fatigue is traceable to the medications she is taking. Monday she got approval to cut back on the dosage of her pain patch, and it appears to have diminished some of her drowsiness and restless sleeping. Last week we received clarification from both her oncologist and an infectious disease doctor that the cancer has spread in her lungs. The only way to confirm this is by an open lung biopsy, which is unnecessary trauma for Deb's body right now, and it wouldn't change her medication protocol. We're grateful that she has been able to receive her weekly chemo infusions since being in the hospital.

My mom continues to be with us, which has been a great help. Dad was with us over this past weekend, and I think he almost outdid mom in doing the dishes! Mom has picked up a nasty virus that has been going around out here, so if you think of it, pray for her quick recovery - for her sake and ours! ;-)

Thanks for all of your expressions of love and prayers. They are a great support and encouragement.

2-20-09 Kelly Kusik ('08)-- Kelly just got the results back from her final scan yesterday afternoon. The doctors say she is Cancer Free!! Praise the Lord! Thank you all for your prayers!

2-18-09 Kelly Kusik ('08)--Thank you everyone for your sweet comments, Kelly greatly   appreciates them all! She has her final scan today, and gets the results tomorrow (19th). If all goes well she will be scheduled for surgery to have her port taken out. Please pray that she and all of us will remain calm and leaning on the Lord as we wait until she gets her scans. The Lord knows all and we just need to rely on Him. Kelly is starting to feel a little better but still getting sick from chemo. We all appreciate your prayers!

2-17-09 Dr. William ('80) and Grayce Peterson-- Please be praying for the Peterson family during this time. Dr. William Peterson went home to be with His dear Savior on Valentine's Day, 2/14/09. Click here to read the note written by his daughter, Cindy (Peterson, '77) Moore, of his final moments here on this earth.

2-11-09 Mike ('78) and Debbie (Wilson, '79) Jones-- Debbie Jones’ husband, Mike, lost control of his car and slid under a milk truck near Elkhorn this morning. He was unconscious at the scene and was taken to Elkhorn Hospital where he was treated and released. His son went by the accident scene and the top of the car was completely taken off. Praise the Lord for His protection! Mike has a severe concussion and will need to be observed closely for 2-3 days. Please pray for his quick recovery and for the Jones family.

2-11-09 Tim ('05) and Tina (Dooley,'05) Anderson-- Please be praying for Tim & Tina's 17-mo. old daughter, Aria. The doctors have been running several tests to find out why Aria has such a low immune system. They say 85-90% of her immune system is not working and is not able to make its own antibodies. Aria has been on constant antibiotics and steroids for several weeks/months. Please pray for strength for Tim and Tina as well as wisdom for the doctors as they seek to reach a definitive diagnosis.

2-2-09 Dave ('86) and Debbie (Wagner,'86) Anderson-- Some of you have heard about Deb's stay in the hospital last week, but not all so here's a little update on what's going on.

When Deb went for chemo two weeks ago today she was so physically whipped that her oncologist sent her straight to the hospital. After a number of tests, it appears as though she was fighting double pneumonia. She regained enough strength to allow her to come home last Saturday and receive chemo treatments this past Tuesday. Due to the combination of pneumonia, cancer, and meds she has little appetite, is sleeping throughout the day and night, has an elevated heart rate, and is easily winded when she does get up. My mom has been with us for almost two weeks and has been a big help in keeping our home functioning and keeping on eye on Deb. We are hoping and praying for Deb's improvement in the coming days and covet your prayers to that end. Thank you so much for the emails, cards, and words of encouragement. They all bring joy to our hearts!

Rejoicing in God's grace,
Dave for the Anderson gang

1-29-09 Shari Lapinsky ('90)-- Please be praying for Shari who is a 5th grade teacher to Inner-City children. "I need strength for each day as my job is truly a mission field. My students are mean, they talk back, they'd rather fight than listen to reason, and they lack the motivation to use education as a way out of poverty. Each day I have the opportunity to change a child's direction for the future."

1-29-09 Update from the Stratfords: We are reaching the end of our chemotherapy this week and the end of our radiation next week. The chemotherapy so far has not been particularly distasteful as long as I remember to take my anti-nausea medicine, which I don't forget, of course, because Cindy has me so well-organized. Radiation therapy, on the other hand, has been a bit of an inconvenience, particularly the fact that we have to get up in the morning and drive an hour to Madison. Also the radiation therapy has caused somewhat of a ringing or buzzing in my ears. Hopefully this will subside when the radiation therapy stops. The radiation makes me feel weary and worn out. I feel like I pulled about two all-nighters in a row. Overall though, we've had the medicines that we needed to deal with anything that popped up during the radiation. Read more. . .

1-29-09 Waad Haddad ('07)--Last Wednesday we found out that my niece, Rachel 3 years old, has a brain tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). My sister Nada is a good Christian and so is her husband Ameer. They both live in Michigan and Rachel is the only child they have. Recently, Nada and my family noticed that Rachel started limping and she has some negative symptoms. The Neurologist saw Rachel three weeks ago and he recommended doing an MRI on Rachel. The results of the MRI were shown last Wednesday and Nada was told that Rachel has the worst kind of aggressive Brain Tumor. Then doctors told Rachel's parents that they will take a biopsy from Rachel on Thursday then on Friday they will remove the tumor by surgery. The next day, one of the best doctors and specialized in cancer told Nada that they cannot do any surgery or chemotherapy on Rachel because of the location of tumor. It is spread on her central nervous system and they might damage some important parts when they take the biopsy. In addition, doctors mentioned that the only temporary option we have is to do radiation on Rachel. Radiation will help Rachel to survive for 6 months to 18 months maximum. Besides that, radiation has many negative side effects that I don't even want to explain. Nada and my family are devastated and shocked by the bad news because we never had any cancer in our family. Nada, her husband, and my family are left without any good option; we really do not know what to do. Nada loves Rachel to the extreme, and she is crying bitterly but with trust in God. I cannot describe how bad the pain is when we see Rachel suffering and her parents crying constantly for her. The only thing we are doing is looking up to God through fasting, praying, and relying on His promises.

Therefore, I write to you, dear brothers and sisters in the family of God, to fight with us this battle against cancer by crying out to God for Rachel. We are desperately in need for your prayers especially Rachel and her family. Please pray and ask others to pray for the following things:

1) That God will heal Rachel if it is His Will.
2) That God will give strength and peace to Nada & Ameer
3) That God will give wisdom and understanding to the parents on what to do for the next a few days regarding radiation.
4) That God will be glorified and many people will come to know Him through this trial.

If you remember one of these four requests, then, Nada and I will greatly appreciate your prayers. PLEASE PRAY.

1-26-09 Ted Knapp ('76)-- Please be in prayer for my friend and '78 alumnus, Ted Knapp.During his years at Maranatha (75-78), Ted was a very popular guy who played Football and Wrestled. Currently, Ted has an incurable blood cancer and is fighting for his life. For over 32 years, he has been a Christian High School Football coach and a faithful Christian, setting an example for many Christian students over the years. He even coached a little in the NFL. Please inform the alumni and those that knew Ted Knapp, as he was a great Christian and needs all your support as he goes through his ordeal with cancer. His web site is www.caringbridge.org/visit/tedknapp. Please e-mail him and let him know that you are in his prayers daily.--submitted by James Trent

1-23-09 Kelly Kusik ('08)--Kelly is going in for her LAST!!! ;-) round of chemo today. The doctor said her counts came up fast, which never happens. So only our God can do wonders like that! So she is getting major blood transfusions tomorrow to help her. Kelly is so happy about being able to get in and get this over with! Let us pray her through until the end! Thank you! Her sister Molly

1-12-09 Update from the Stratfords: Someone gave me a little thought-for-the-day card once that read, “A day hemmed in with prayer is less apt to come unraveled.”  As we think of the beginning 2009, we are thankful for the powerful ministry of prayer.  Our friends from our past ministry, Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan, had a weeklong prayer emphasis this past week.  Our church will be having its annual weeklong prayer emphasis at that end of this month.  We have had the joy of praying for many of you, even as you have had the joy of upholding us before the Throne of Grace.  Let me share with you how God answered your prayers for us this week and share matters that you can continue to keep before the Lord. More. . .

1-9-09 Jim ('98) and Theresa Schultz-- Please pray for our house to sell in Zion, Illinois.

12-22-09 Kelly Kusik ('08)-- Kelly is doing a little better; she has been off chemo for a while. But she starts the 26, they are going to, in a way, be some of the worst she has had. These last few have been really bad, but she's been off for a while, also she is constantly sick to her stomach. It's hard for her to find stuff to eat, but she is trying to enjoy some of the holiday treats. Her foot is healing well, and she is getting around a little better. She has 3 rounds left, but they are still going to be very tough. We are so thankful that her chemo is almost over, but the race is not done. There will be years of side affects, test, and probably other hospital stays. But we are all looking forward to a new year, with Christ at the helm! Thank you all and have a wonderful new year!

12-16-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard--Thank you for all who have uplifted my father-in-law in your prayers. He went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1st. We are glad he is no longer suffering from the pain he has had for years.

12-4-08 Kelly Kusik ('08)-- Thank you to all who have been praying for Kelly, she is almost done! But the last round of chemo really did a number on her body, she was sick to her stomach for almost 2 weeks straight. It ended her up in the hospital, but there is very little for them to do, her body is not coming back from the chemo like it should. Please pray that she will stay strong and finish the chemo. Pray that she will sleep through most of this long round of chemo that she is on right now, and that she won't get so sick. Cards are so appreciated by Kel, phone calls are not the best right now, since she is usually sick or sleeping. But praise the Lord she is almost done! Thank you all again so much for your prayers! Her family and I are so very very thankful! ~ Molly (Kusik) Johnson

11-24-08 Sherry (Harrison, '00) Lloyd-- My mom's (Sharon Harrison) cancer has returned after 9 years. This time it's bone cancer. Thankfully it is on the bone, not in the bone; however, it is in much of her body. She is in radiation every day, including Sundays, and after that will be starting chemotherapy. God healed her of her cancer once, and we're praying He will heal her once again. It's been a difficult year for us losing dad in May, and now this. Yet, we know God is in control, and so thankful He is. Thank you so much for your prayers!

11-20-08 Kelly Kusik ('08)--The Kusik family would first like to thank all those who came out for the walk/run, it was a great turnout. Thank you to all those who prayed and gave as well! We can't tell you how much of a blessing it all is! Kelly just finished her longer round of chemo on Sunday (11/9). She did okay in the hospital, eating pretty well. Although she started getting sick towards the end of the week, which usually happens with this round of chemo. Thank you again so much everyone for your prayers and notes! Keep them coming!

11-19-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard-- Just a quick note to let you know what is going on. Brian went back to Danville on Sunday and Abby, Aubrey and myself haved stayed at my in-laws in Robinson, IL for the week. We came down last weekend and on Sunday the hospice nurse had to come in. Just as an estimate she believed we had 7-10 days left with Kenneth on this earth. We felt it would not be good for Ruth to be here by herself and needs help moving him up in his bed. Otherwise, he is just taking liquid morphene, and three other pills. The last two days he has slept all but probably 1/2 hour of the day. When Aubrey screemed yesterday in the room because of being told "NO" he did not even flinch.

God is good. There have been little things this week that has shown Ruth and the rest of the family that God is in control and sends the right people at the right time.

Thank you again for your prayers!!!

11-13-08 Randy ('91) and Sarah (Berlin, '89) Arbogast-- Randy works for a vending company that moves frieght for shipper DHL. With Mondays announcement that DHL is pulling out of the U.S. market, over 10,000 people in Ohio alone will lose their jobs. We are already in the process of moving to our new ministry in Indiana. This announcemnt puts in jeopardy the insurance that he needs for his son's heart condition. Pray that he will be covered until a new job can be located in Indiana.

11-13-08 Garth & Lynette (Hayward, '85) Piper--I just received a phone call from my wife, (at 2:00am) who has been helping take care of her father for the past few weeks in America. As many of you know, he has been very close to heaven for a while now. My wife said that sometime early this morning, Dad took his last earthly breaths. We know that he is finally free of the weaked physical shell in which he has been trapped for these last few years. The Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and now we know that Dad Hayward is breathing heavenly air. Oh what a blessing it will be for him to be able to speek again and to Praise our Lord out loud. We do sorrow because we won't see Dad Hayward any more while we are still on the earth but we rejoice that he is able to fellowship with many believers who have gone on before him.

I believe I need to be there for my wife at the funeral and to show proper respect to My Father-in-Law.

Grant and I will leave later this afternoon and will be gone from NZ for a few weeks to help Lorraine, My Mother-in-Law get things sorted.

Please keep Praying as there will no doubt be lost people at the funeral who need the Lord.

11-1-08 Michelle Jones ('92)-- Please pray for my friend, Sue Perkins. She was just informed that she has breast cancer. Sue does know the Lord as her Savior and would covet your prayers at this difficult time.

Also, please continue to pray for the faculty of Sterling Christian School and the faculty of Kalamazoo Advantage Academy. Both of these staffs have lost their jobs due to their schools being closed. Their financial, emotional and spiritual needs are great. Prayers for their well being are greatly appreciated.

10-30-08 Sarah (Berlin, '89) Arbogast--Randy just returned home from surgery. All went well and he is doing extremely well. The tear was realtively small and there was no indication of any other problems with the knee including no indication of arthritis. The next 48 hours are key to keeping blood clots from forming. They have him on a low dose of Cumadin. Please pray for no complications.

10-29-08 Allison (Snavely, '02) Urso-- As many of you know, our daughter Macy (3, soon-to-be 4 Dec. 16), will be undergoing heart surgery soon. This is our second child to go through heart surgery, and the burden is very heavy on our family. We trust in the Lord to deliver her (and us) through this, but we covet your prayers. Please visit her site for updates on her progress through surgery and recovery and to sign her guestbook. Here's the link to the web site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/macyurso. Thanks again for all of your prayers for our princess.

10-29-08 Sarah (Berlin, '89) Arbogast--On Thursday Randy will be going in for knee surgery on his right knee. While the procedure is realtively risk free, last year he had similar surgery on his left knee and developed a post surgery blood clot. The surgeon will put him on cumadin immediately after surgery to prevent any similar occurrence. The surgery is scheduled for noon.

10-29-08 Christy (Garver, '91 ) Monteith--I am overjoyed to inform you about my amazing opportunity God has blessed me with for this spring! This will be my first mission trip out of the country. I am going to Mombassa, Kenya East Africa!!! I will be working with churches and orphans in the area as I spend my time there. There is a team going from my church (13 of us) which is headed by Chris and Lisa Moore from Real 4 Christ Ministries. Their website is www.real4christ.com. We need you to specifically pray for these things. 1. Pray that the God will give us safety to, from and while there in Mombassa. 2. Pray that God will open the hearts of the African people. 3. Pray that the funds will come together in order for me to go. My dream has always been to go to Africa as these people have always had a soft spot in my heart. Now God has given me the opportunity and I know that He will open doors in order for me to be able to go. The total cost for the trip is $4000 to cover airfare, lodging, food, and missionary supplies. This is a large amount of money to raise, but I trust that God will provide for me as it is His will. I need to deposit my money by January 10, 2009. I cannot wait to finally go over there and see how God is going to work. I know I will grow much closer to Him as well as appreciate the many luxuries I take advantage of in the states. I will be looking forward to updating you when I return and share my experiences. Please remember to pray for our team during March 5-18, 2009.

10-29-08 Jeremy and Katie (Pierce, '01) Estrema--Thank you for praying. We are now at home! The procedure went well. The doctors treated us very kindly. You can sense the prayers of God’s people during this difficult day.

Katie seems to be doing very well. She is resting now and will need a couple of days to recover from the procedure.

Please continue to pray as we lean upon God’s all sufficient grace.

10-28-08 Jeremy and Katie (Pierce, '01) Estrema--Thank you for your prayers. Today, (Tuesday) at 1:30 p.m. our time (11:30 a.m. est) Katie will be getting a D & C. Lord willing, this will help all to pass and help her to avoid possible infections in the future.

Yesterday was gut wrenching as we did one last ultrasound to confirm everything. There is no doubt now that the baby has died at least 10 days ago.

Please pray for recovery both physically and emotionally. We are both doing well by the grace of the Lord. Yesterday, we had time to talk and cry together as the kids were being watched by our missionary friends in Pilar. It is amazing how close we sense the Lord’s presence with us during this time. His Word and His people have been of much encouragement to us.

10-28-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard--My father-in-law, Kenneth, has decided to stop all chemo treatments. Hospice is coming in twice a week to help him out. Please continue to keep him and Ruth, my mother-in-law, in your prayers. Pray for strength and encouragement during this time.

10-27-08 Garth ('85) and Lynette (Hayward, '85) Piper--   Thank you so very much to all who took a moment to pray for Lynette's Dad and Mom.   Her Dad, Clair Hayward, is in a hospital bed that hospice brought to their home.  He hasn't moved from it since Monday.   He basically can do nothing for himself right now and has only had eye contact with Lorraine for a few seconds one time.   Hospice will send some ladies to help with bathing, etc. Lorraine, Lynette's mom, has been pretty much taking care of things with the help of some popping in now and then.   Rosemary and Dave came down for the weekend to help.

Please keep praying for God's will to be done.  Mom Hayward needs alot of strength, as do those who are helping care for Dad.  We need wisdom to know what to do from across the world!!!  Lynette's foot is still sore but she's willing to go if need be.  We don't know what to do!!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers.   Our Sunday services will be tomorrow morning (for us) and this week-end the USA changes time (falls back) so we'll be 18 hrs. ahead (straight across the clock).  We had the Judd family here for four days (they will be moving here as soon as they sell their house).  They helped us with the church garage sale today and we raised about $770 for our missions trip to Vanuatu- the praise goes to God who held the rain away!! The McLains will be here tomorrow with a bunch of their teens.  They'll stay overnight (some here, some at church) for  the Labour Day weekend.

10-21-08 Jeremy and Katie (Pierce, '01) Estrema--Today, Katie went down to the hospital to get a routine ultrasound done on the baby in the womb. The baby measured at 9 weeks and approximately 4 days. However, the baby did not have a heart beat. We went quickly for a second opinion and we received the same result. Doctors have told us that the baby died in the womb.

As you know, this was real painful news for us to hear. We appreciate your prayers. We were told by one doctor to take a pill that will speed up the passing of the baby through the body. The other doctor, told us to wait 10 days and the baby should pass through normally. We are unsure what to do.

If someone knows of a doctor in the States that would be willing to talk to us about this, we would appreciate his/her number.

We thank you so much for your love and prayers. Our God remains on His throne. He has been so good to us. We realize that all things work together for good (Romans 8:28).

10-20-08 Garth ('85) and Lynette (Hayward, '85) Piper-- Lynette just found out that her dad had another stroke last night while in bed. Please pray for God's will to be done in his precious life and that her mom will have the strength to handle all this. Lynette's sisters are there right now, thankfully. Her dad was thrashing around alot and was very disoriented. The hospice nurse gave him something to calm him for now.

Lynette's leg is out of the cast but it's painful to walk on. At least the bone is healed well.

Thanks for your prayers for Clair and Lorraine Hayward (Lynette's parents) and for continued healing for Lynette's foot.

10-20-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard-- My father-in-law, Kenneth Garrard, received word today that the cancer that was just on the bottom part of his lung has now encompassed the whole right lung. Because it is in the lining of the lung and due to the size, radiation and surgery are not options. They are going to do 6 treatments of more intense chemo therapy that will happen on a weekly basis. It is a 3 hour drive to his appointments and takes approx. 5-6 hours for the treatment. Please continue to pray for strength and wisdom during this time for him and my mother-in-law, Ruth. Thank you!

10-19-08 Jason Wredberg ('00)--Please pray for Redeemer Community Church as we seek to be a church that displays the glory of God in our community. Our prayer is that RCC would a be a body of believers that is Gospel-centered and Christ-exalting. We want to corporately and individually pursue God's glory as we promote His infinite worth.

10-11-08 Warren ('94) and Tana (Rodabaugh, '92) Brokering--Warren Brokering, husband, father, pastor, son, brother and friend went home to be with his Lord, October 10, 2008, at 2:55 p.m. (ET). He was surrounded by his wife, Tana, his family, and dear friends. He is no longer in pain, and he is now face to face with Christ his Savior. Although his passing is painful, we rejoice with him as he enters a new, eternal life with Jesus Christ.

The viewing and funeral will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, IN. The viewing will be held Monday, October 13 from 4-8 p.m. ET. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 14th from 1-3 p.m. with internment at Roselawn Cemetery right afterwards.

10-10-08 Christy (Garver, '91 ) Monteith-- Please pray for Christy over the next several weeks as she prepares to go on a short term mission's trip to Mombasa. The trip is with Real 4 Christ and will take place March 5-18, 2009. The total cost for the trip is $4000 which is due by November 15th. Please pray that the funds will come together and that Satan will not win in his efforts to keep us from going on this trip!

10-10-08 Art ('77) and Connie Roberson-- Art's father recently passed away; please be in prayer for the family. The Robersons will be gone this weekend to be with family.

10-9-08 Warren ('94) and Tana (Rodabaugh, '92) Brokering-- In 2006 Warren was diagnosed with colon cancer which had spread to the liver and lungs. Warren has taken a very bad turn and has deteriorated very quickly. At this point, I might rattle on from lack of sleep and being overwhelmed, but God has seen fit to end the battle of cancer for Warren. It will only be a matter of time. My heart is heavy with grief as I watch him. I know that God is taking him in his arms very soon, but we are not ready to see him go. Please pray for my family and especially my children as this is very difficult for adults to understand, but children... Warren was taken to the hospital on Monday because of severe pain and breathing problems. They put him on a Morphine pump and kept him overnight. Warren was told on Tuesday that his battle with cancer would not continue much longer. We prayed together and cried together and shared our hearts with each other. God gave us a precious time together with Him. By Tuesday night he was struggling with his breath again and having pain. On Wednesday morning he went to the office and they administered a diffent chemo that he could tolerate, but the Oxygen intake would not improve. They ended up taking him by ambulance to the hospital and let us know that it had become so bad that he only had a few hours to days. I watch him breath in and out and am so proud of my husband and this long battle he has fought. He does not communicate much right now and is in and out of sleep. All I have now is the moments that tick by and I cherish each moment his eyes open. I am reminded of God's wonderful goodness. Thank you for your prayers keep them coming. I will update again.

10-8-08 Dan ('05) and Dee Kowach--Shortly after we sent our prayer letter we talked with our real estate agent. She said there are a few good prospects for selling our home. One very interested buyer is coming by the house on Saturday. We are praying that we will get a reasonable offer and be able to sell our house even yet this month. Please pray with us on this matter. We will keep everyone updated with emails.

10-3-08 Glen ('96) and Marjorie Teasdale--The family of Pastor Glen Teasdale, Faith Baptist Church, Waukesha, has called and requested urgent prayer. Pastor Teasdale has been rushed to ICU with blood clots – please remember him in prayer during this crucial time.

10-2-08 Kelly Kusik ('08)--Please pray for Kelly's emotional state right now. She really wants to just be done with chemo and not finish the 7 treatments left; she just wants to be done with it all. She needs to finish the treatments to make sure the cancer is totally gone, but there is always a chance the cancer can come back. If it does come back chemo rarely, if ever works a second time. So we really need her to stay strong and finish, she has come so far already! As her sister I can tell you that all your prayers and concerns are so wonderful, and we all appreciate them!!! Thank you all!!!"

9-29-08 Duane ('75) and Geraldine Ott ('75)-- Geraldine went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2008. Please be praying for the family. Graveside services for Mrs. Geraldine Johanna Ott, 67, will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Longanville, WI with Pastor Dean Howell officiating. The family will have visitation services on Sunday, September 28, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm and on Monday, September 29, 2008 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church in Madison, WI.

9-25-08 Heather Smith ('96)--My apartment flooded and I had to move out of my home. I am currently living with my parents but it makes my commute to work twice as long as it should be. Please pray that the Lord will lead me to a new place closer to work. My address for the time being will be 303 N. Main Coleta, IL. 61081

9-22-08 Dave ('86) and Debbie (Wagner,'86) Anderson--It's been a while since we've updated everyone with what's going on for Deb. I'll try to be succinct. Deb's oncologist began to use the "big guns" against the cancer in the liver and the bones at the beginning of the summer. She is on two different chemo drugs and a couple of biological drugs as well and a HOST of pills (so many that it's a wonder she's not full after just taking the pills!). The good news is that it appears that the meds are having some impact against the cancer (tumor markers are down in her blood, liver enzymes, which were sky high, have come down some). As expected there have been some challenges trying to keep Deb's blood counts stable. She had to receive a couple of units of blood at the beginning of August and then again last weekend to get her hemoglobin (red blood cells) back up into range. As of last weekend, her platelets were extremely low, so she's trying to do some physical activity to get those back up. She deals with plenty of fatigue, but all-in-all handles her circumstances and her craze family :-) like a trooper. God daily gives us blessings to rejoice in. So many folks tell us that they're praying for her, for us, causing us to be humbled by all the love expressed. Our church family has been abundantly helpful with bringing meals several days a week. Several have come to clean the house (big job -- big family and three big hair-sharing golden retrievers!). A dear lady regularly helps with ironing and Deb's mom loves to do laundry (I can't figure that one out!). We have been ministered to far beyond what we deserve! Thanks for all your love, prayer, and support!

9-15-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard-- My father-in-law had his 2nd chemo treatment last Monday. By Thursday he had to be admitted to the local hospital and given a pint of blood. He is mentally challenged at this time, too. Please continue to pray for strength for him and my mother-in-law, Ruth.

9-15-08 Duane ('75) and Geraldine ('75) Ott--The Otts are with Melanie at Southland Camp. They are meeting with doctors this week to discuss the possibility of hospice for Geraldine. Their address is Duane and Geraldine Ott Southland Camp 3555 Hwy 371 Ringgold, LA 71068.

9-15-08 Charlotte Cedarholm ('82)-- Bob is home and doing okay. He meets with the surgeon, chemo and radiation doctors this week to plot their course of action from here. His address is Bob Melford 1754 Highwater Rd. Bromley, KY 41017.

9-1-08 Charlotte Cedarholm ('82)--Thank you for praying for my cousin Bob Melford. He has had several calls from friends. Thanks. At this point he is not feeling well at all. Because of the lung situation, he has had several breathing treatments and finally they put an NG tube in. He is not taking any calls because of the tube. The doctor is hopefull that this will clear soon. Please remember him in your prayers.

8-27-08 John ('00) and Judy Brock-- John Brock’s mother passed away Tuesday morning, August 26, and is now in the arms of her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband. They have been apart for two years and two weeks. The memorial will be this Friday, August 29 at 11 a.m. Florence wanted memorial gifts designated for "The Pavilion" project at Ironwood. Please keep the Brock family in your prayers during this time of reflecting on her life’s testimony and her love and ministry for her Savior.

8-27-08 Kevin ('83) and Tammy (Temple, '83) Brosnan--Tamara’s father, Mr. John Temple, passed into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday evening, August 26, in Phoenix, Arizona. He took his last breath as his son read Psalm 23. The Lord answered our prayer that John’s son would arrive before he passed away. John was able to open his eyes briefly and squeeze his son’s hand. We are thankful that Tamara was able to see her father in June. She will not be returning to the States for the funeral. We appreciate your prayers for Tamara and the family at this time.

8-27-08 Charlotte Cedarholm ('82)--Bob Melford came through surgery well. The dr. believes she got all the cancer. Praise the Lord!! He will be in the hospital 5 - 7 days and then will go through chemo. His hospital phone number in Ohio is 513-585-4506. If you know him, please call and encourage him. He would appreciate it!

8-26-08
Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard-- Thank you for praying for my father-in-law, Kenneth Garrard. He went back last week and they have started 1 of 6 sessions of chemo. These sessions last 6 hours long and will be once every three weeks. He lost quite a bit of weight over the last 6 months and is now sick and weak because of the treatments. Please continue to pray for strength and that the treatments will be effective. They are hoping it will shrink the cancerous cells and slow the aggressives cells down.

8-25-08 Charlotte Cedarholm ('82)--Bob Melford will be having colon cancer surgery on Monday, August 25. He will be in the hospital 5 - 7 days and then staying with his son for the month of Sept. as he recuperates. The tumor, due to chemo, has shrunk to the size of a dime for which we are all thankful. Please pray that the doctors can get what remains and that with future treatment, this cancer will be gone.

8-22-08 Angie (McClure, '90) Owen--My younger sister, Julie, was diagnosed with breast cancer recently and has since had surgery to remove it. She is undergoing chemo (or infusion) treatments now in California, and will continue them every 2 weeks until December. She is a Christian, and told me that she's never felt God's love so much, but still is weak, and tired, and experiencing frequent nauseousness. If any of you would pray for her, I would be so honored and thankful. Also, she has a friend she works with, named Heather Mayhew, that is 30, and also had breast cancer. Julie asked me if we could include her in our prayers. Thanks so very much. Maranatha will always be in my heart, as well as the lifetime friends I made there. I think of you with so much love and have so many wonderful memories. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you (Phil. 1:3).

8-21-08 Kelly Kusik ('08)--Kelly has ended her long week of chemo. She is doing relatively well, just tired and a little nauseous. The doctors are moving her chemo farther apart to give her a better chance to recover before starting another round, so she is very excited about that. Her foot surgery is scheduled for the 29th of August. It is going to be a very long surgery and a very long and painful recovery. Please pray that things will go as well as they can! Kelly did need to have a number of tests and scans to make sure the cancer hadn’t spread, before they could do surgery. Praise God, she passed them all, they didn’t find cancer that spread or any other problems. As Kelly’s sister, I can tell you that your prayers and concerns are most appreciated and wonderful! We covet them each and every day!

8-18-08 Michelle Jones ('92)--On Wednesday, August 13, my sister-in-law told my brother that she wants a divorce. This was a shock to my brother and he is not handling it well. I'm requesting prayer for both he and my sister-in-law. The Lord can heal their marriage and in the process draw both of them closer to Him. Please pray for my brother, Tim and my sister-in-law Jessica. Thank you.

8-11-08 Michelle Jones ('92)--I have an interview on Tuesday, August 12, at 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time. I'm asking that if this is the position that the Lord would have for me, that it would be made known to my prospective employer as well as myself. Thank you for your prayers. I'm a little nervous because I haven't had to interview in 10 years. I'm asking the Lord to give me clarity of thought and speech.

8-7-08 Nancy (Hicks, '95) Garrard--I would like to ask that you pray for my father-in-law, Kenneth Garrard. He just recently has been told he has a rare incurable cancer in his lungs which has started to spread to his liver. They have sent the biopsy to Mayo Clinic for second opinion. They are suppose to hear back by the middle of next week as to what kind of treatment if any will help slow down the spread of this cancer. The did say that the cells that were tested in the biopsy were fast acting cells. Thank you for your prayers.

8-6-08 Kelly Kusik ('08)--Kelly just finished her short round of chemo, and is doing ok. The treatment wasn't fun but she is hanging in there. She actually feels well enough to come and visit me, her sister, which is great since she really hasn't been out of the house, besides the hospital, since her foot surgery. Please pray that everything continues to go well until her major foot surgery. I know when it is done that she will have a load taken off of her mind. Please feel free to send her messages, or call. She will do her best to answer or get back to you. Thank you for all your prayers! They are greatly appreciated!

8-6-08 William and Amy (Lytle, '96) Ezell--Last week we had a wonderful Teen Revival in Salt Lake City area. Seven young people accepted Christ as their Savior! We praise the Lord for the seven and for the other decisions made for Him!

While there, SarahRuth decided she didn't want to crawl anymore. As a new walker, she still stumbles but gets up and goes again. As with all babies learning to walk, she took a few tumbles; one of which she hit her head on some brick steps. She had a bruise and small goose bump and cried but otherwise acted normal. Friday, all but Will got sick with some type of bug (and we're still battling that bug). Well, Saturday we traveled to Montana to start our meetings here (VBS and Teen Rally). Early Sunday, Jonathan vomited all over; so it was decided that it would be best that Amy, Jonathan, and SarahRuth would stay "home" that day. That evening, they were outside on the front lawn enjoying the beautiful evening. SarahRuth stumbled on the sidewalk and hit her face on the cement but didn't leave any marks, though she did cry. Amy picked her up and comforted her, and she settled down. However a few minutes later she went into a major seizure. Since William had left already for the evening services, Amy called 911. The police and ambulance were quick to respond (Praise the Lord!), and SarahRuth was transported to ER where they checked her out, took vitals, did blood work, and took a CT Scan of the brain. All tests came back normal. They admitted her for overnight observation and additional lab work in the morning. Again all tests came back normal. The doctors are baffled as to the cause. It may be viral related, or it could be related to the recent spills, or it could be something else. There is a 40% chance she could have more seizures. She is currently "home" and acting more like herself, praise the Lord. However, please pray for her health and for strength and for the rest of our healths (as I mentioned before, we are battling some type of stomach bug, not very pleasant). Please also pray for an unspoken request that is on our hearts.

Thank you all for your faithful prayers!

8-1-08 Heather Smith ('97)--Just wanted to ask all to please pray for our family right now. My cousin and his wife had a baby on Sunday, July 27, 2008. Their newborn, Grace, was premature and her lungs are not fully developed. She is in a local NICU and the doctors are not promising a full recovery. Please pray for the Witmer family. They are believers which gives them strength and peace but they still need our prayers. Thank you all for your prayers.
