Maranatha quality units are focused on quality improvement, and its faculty and staff members are continually evaluating and implementing changes to campus processes.

March QPT Updates
The Academy, under the leadership of Kathy Lawson, completed its QAP for updating and evaluating the parent handbook. The academy quality unit also presented an update on its current QAP related to a process for developing and maintaining an academy website. We are impressed with the strides the academy quality unit is making in understanding and using quality principles.
Gerry McKee’s crew, the Campus Post Office, received stage-three approval of its new QAP to measure and improve mail room handling. Gerry has fully grasped the need to provide objective measures for tracking progress—a good example for all.
The Learning Assistance Program’s quality unit with Margaret Handyside is nearing completion of its QAP related to the design and inauguration of a college writing lab. They presented a set of measurements for the first year’s operation. These measurements are leading them to another QAP related to improving participation in the new writing lab tutorial program. Generally, students who need the lab most tend not to recognize its value. We appreciate this quality unit’s plucky spirit in creating new ways to help students succeed. Their openness and eagerness to succeed is challenging to those of us with larger quality units.
The staff administration quality unit, under the leadership of Darryl Sturgill, is proposing a QAP to institute a college-wide employee recognition program. While employees generally do not like systems where comparisons among employees are made, we might be able to create some alternatives that provide encouragement without “competition.”
The Teacher Education department’s quality unit has been successful in completing its QAP for improving communication with Teacher Education department alumni. Its process has been vastly improved and has exceeded expectations. One product of their project is the department's Teacher Talk. Mike Zwolanek was a key person in this project's success. The Teacher Education department needs only to complete stage six to clear the way for a future QAP.
