Kelly Crum is the new Chair of Maranatha’s Nursing Department. She was a member of the nursing faculty at Pensacola Christian College from 1993-2001 and taught undergraduate and graduate students for the University of Phoenix Online from 2002-2009. Mrs. Crum was a trainer, mentor, and workshop facilitator with Phoenix Online. She eventually moved into administration, working with nearly 1,000 contracted nursing faculty members. "I enjoyed the online environment, but I will enjoy even more having the opportunity to make an impact on the lives and ministry of hundreds of students," Crum said. "To be able to instill the passion of what it is to be a Christian nurse and how that can change the life of a student as well as the lives of those around them . . . that is motivation enough."

Nurses have a reputation as “angels of mercy,” particularly since Florence Nightingale provided care for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Now, with a critical shortage of nurses developing in the United States, many have looked to nursing as an attractive, secure, and expanding career field.

Maranatha is the only regionally accredited, fundamental Baptist college to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Along with this industry standard nursing degree, you will receive an outstanding college education in an environment where you can strengthen your faith, meet new Christian friends, and learn to serve Christ. You’ll be equipped as a professionally trained nurse who is biblically and academically prepared for medical service, whether on the mission field, in a Christian school, Christian camp, or a professional health care facility.

A shortage of nurses in the U.S. has forced many hospitals to take extreme action in the hope of keeping their staffs full. Read full article
