Transfer Policies

Transfer students should follow the regular admission process. When evaluating transferability of credit, the decision of the Academic Committee at Maranatha is final. Maranatha considers transfer of credits based on the following policies:

  1. All proposed transfer courses must have at least C grades.
  2. The student’s activities eligibility standing for the first semester will be based on the student’s completed courses at the prior institution, using Maranatha’s eligibility standards.
  3. All proposed transfer courses must be substantially equivalent to courses found in the Maranatha catalog in both content and credit. See the catalog for more detail about quarter units.
  4. All undergrad transfer students must complete a minimum of two semesters and at least 30 undergraduate hours of credit at Maranatha, regardless of the number of hours transferred. At least one-third of those house must be in the major field, and the final semester of work must be completed in residence. Students wanting to transfer 30 semester hours or more to Maranatha must enroll in and successfully complete 12 semester hours in residence before transferability of the courses can be confirmed. See the catalog for more details about withdrawing during the first semester at Maranatha.
  5. The maximum number of correspondence credits accepted for transfer is 12 semester hours and the grades for each course must be at least a C-. Only 6 semester hours will be accepted in any one field of study. Bible Doctrine, Greek, or EDUC 225 Human Relations, taken by correspondence will NOT be accepted for transfer. Correspondence credit will be accepted only from institutions that also have resident programs at a local campus with full-time resident faculty. EDUC 225 Human Relations and ELED 344 Curriculum and Methods in Reading must be taken at Maranatha.
  6. Transcripts for all course work done elsewhere must reach the Registrar’s Office by the second Monday in April of the anticipated graduation year in order to apply toward a degree. A late fee of $200 will be assessed for any transcripts received after that date.
  7. At the time of graduation, all credits earned will be used to compute the student’s final GPA.

See the catalog for specific policies about transferring from a Bible school, Bible institute or Bible college and for certain restrictions on transferring courses from a community or junior college.
