Praises & Thanksgiving
As we start off many of our letters—thank you for praying for us! We are so grateful for you and want you to know your ministry of prayer is so needed.
The past two months were filled with meetings. Six of our seven meetings were in Illinois, which was a nice break for our van. Each church welcomed us and let us be a part of their family while we were there. Marshall really enjoys being at the different churches and having “big” classes to go to.
We have seven meetings these next two months and we would ask that you pray for us - for our traveling safety, for the meetings to bring more support, for God to use us while we are on deputation, and for us as we begin getting our visas ready.
The process to get the Australian permanent residency visa is quite extensive and takes a lot of time and money. We have a lot of forms to fill out and documentation to get. Please keep us in prayer regarding that.
We pray that you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. The holidays will be here before we know it and we hope that you enjoy God’s many blessings in your life.

Happy Birthday Meredith Jane! In four days our little baby will be one. Time has gone so quickly. Meredith started walking a few weeks ago and hasn’t stopped since. Both of them got to play in the leaves last week and Marshall had fun jumping into the pile. Meredith tried to eat the leaves. Please pray for Meredith, she has gotten a little cold, and pray for Marshall that he does not get it.

Summer Fun
We praise the Lord for a great summer, and it is flying by! We have 16 meetings scheduled through the end of the year and have many already scheduled for next year.
Sara and I are especially thank for your prayers concerning our support. We have received a couple of calls the past few months from churches letting us know that they have voted to take us on for support. We are happy to announce that we have 60% of our support! Praise be to our faithful God. Thank you to our new supporting churches—may God richly bless you!
Since we had one meeting in Arkansas we decided to spend a few days camping. Well, Arkansas is HOT in August but we did enjoy our time there. We were made to feel at home by the pastor and members down in Hope—Thank you!
We have been trying to better equip ourselves musically. Sara is taking piano lessons and I have been learning the guitar. We hope these skills will be able to be put to use in Australia. Pray that our practices will be profitable. Neither of us are very good, but we can say to each other—hey, listen to this new “song”. We have a good time.
Again, thank you for your faithful support financially and through your prayers.

Our little M&M’s are grow-ing up so quickly. Meredith has 6 teeth and stands all the time. Won’t be long till she’s walking. Marshall is full of energy this summer. He loves playing outside with any type of ball or stick, usually both. We love to watch them hysterically laugh at each other.

We had such a great time at the Bible Schools this past month. Thank you for praying for us each week. We had a castle/knight theme, an arctic theme, and an outback theme. We were tired by the end of the two weeks but they were good weeks. It was great to see how excited each child was to come back each day and to bring friends. We pray that the lives of those little ones were drawn closer to Christ.
Thank you for praying for our sup-port. We are very excited and praise the Lord that we are now at 50%!! A church we had been at in March decided to support us. We are so very thankful for their giving and praying for us!
I am still trying to schedule meetings for this year, there are a few open weekends. Please pray for me as I continue to make calls and schedule meetings even though some days it is very discouraging.
We have one more Bible school this month, please pray for strength and wisdom as Sara and I teach the children.
Please continue to pray for our sup-port to be raised quickly. We know the need in Australia is great and it is not getting any better. Also, pray for our coworker John as he travels home for furlough and as he travels around the country.

VBS Time
This summer we have three Vacation Bible Schools scheduled. The first one is at our home church and I have been busy with our Youth and Music Pastors making a humorous video for each day as well as writing a message for each day.
We are looking forward to ministering at the Bible Schools this summer and are praying for many kids to be saved during that time.
During May we had three meetings. Our hearts were encouraged and uplifted. All of the meetings were within three hours so we were able to spend a good amount of time at home, which we needed. Our family was able to recharge for the busy summer ahead.
Please continue to pray for our financial support to be completed soon. Our hearts desire is to be in Australia yesterday, but we also know that the Lord’s timing is best. Please pray for us as we minister to the Lord’s people here in America that we can encourage them to get more involved in missions.
As we have asked many times before, please pray for Marshall and Meredith that they will be saved as soon as they understand.
Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Counting our many blessings
We thought Spring had arrived until we drove through a snow storm on our way to Iowa last weekend. We saw dozens of other cars in the ditch but God kept us safe! We had a meeting out in Vir-ginia last month and were able to be in the church that I was saved in. Our two vehicles drove us over 4,000 miles last month and the only problem that we had was a broken belt that I was able to fix myself. Thank you for praying for our safety while traveling.
We had five meetings last month and we have six this month. We are thankful that God is filling up our schedule. We have many con-ferences and Bible schools this year. We are also very excited to share with you that our support level is now at 48%! I know many of you are praying for our support to be raised quickly—thank you! Seeing that number rise shows us that we are just that much closer to being on the field.
Please continue to pray that we will be strengthened in the Lord, be-cause He is our solid rock that we can depend on.
Please pray for the two current BMM church plants in Australia. Pray that God will continue to save souls and they will be added to the churches there.

Marshall turned three in March and had a great time at his "lasso" birthday party. He is doing so much more by himself. He thinks he can carry Meredith—yikes! Meredith’s little blonde hair is growing finally. She is a very happy little girl who loves to watch her brother.

We have had such an exciting and busy February!
We are SO grateful for God pro-viding some new support. We are now up to 45%. Even though our country is having financial difficulties we can see that our God is bigger than that. Thank you for giving so generously and faithfully each month.
It was exciting to be able to share with five different churches last month about Australia. We were so encouraged by the people’s interest and concern for the Australians.
I am sure most of you know about the fires in Australia. They were about 50-60 miles from Melbourne. Please pray with us for the people’s hearts to turn towards God. Pray for our missionary co-workers who are ministering to people around that area. Pray that people will truly turn towards God, that it will not be just a temporary “fix” for their lives.
We are heading out for a long trip out east. I am looking forward to being back to one of my home-towns. Please continue to pray for our safety along the many miles we will be traveling and also that we may follow God faithfully each day.

Sing Praises to our Lord
While driving to our last meeting we decided to try and think of as many specific blessings that we had experienced while on deputation. We enjoyed looking back and remembering how great our God is. He has allowed us to meet so many wonderful people, to share with them the great need in Australia, and to meet other missionaries and hear of the great need for the Gospel in their area.
What a privilege we have to serve God this way.
Thank you for praying for our schedule to fill up. We have a huge schedule this year and are excited to see God placing us in so many meetings. This year we are looking forward to many missions conferences and even a few vacation Bible schools. Please pray for our children to stay healthy as we are traveling so much.
Please continue to pray for our sup-port to be raised. We only have 58% left to raise! The 3.75 million people in Melbourne, Australia need to hear the Gospel and we desire greatly to tell them.
We thank all of you who do sup-port us with your finances and your prayers. God can use us all to see Australian’s become His children.

2008 In Review & A Look Ahead to 2009
There are so many wonderful things that have happened this past year but I will only be able to high-light a few.
First I will highlight our travels. We have been in 10 different states, traveled 25,770 miles, and visited 46 churches this year. With all those miles traveled we have been protected from having any accidents. Our van has only had minor things needing repair - praise the Lord for that!
Secondly, we are praising God for the 42% of support we have received. While it is not the 60% we prayed to have by the end of the year, we are continuing to trust that God will accomplish His will.
We have also learned many important lessons this past year. These things will help us in our ministry on deputation and in our ministry in Australia. We are thankful that we never stop learning.
Please continue to pray for our colleagues in Australia. There are various plans being made for furloughs and many miles to be traveled.
Please continue to pray for us, we have many meetings scheduled and need many more. Pray for our support to be raised so we can take our ministry to Australia.
Family News
Marshall and Meredith are growing so much. Meredith is only two months old but she’s managed to double her birth weight! She’s so smiley. Marshall is becoming a little man, copying things we say. It is usually quite comical. Thank you for praying for them!
We would like to give a big THANKS to all of you who gave us special Christmas gifts this year!
THANK YOU!!

Greetings from a slightly snowy Illinois.
Our December is going to be rather busy and we are thankful for our five meetings this month. We will be in Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois. Thank you for praying that we would be able to schedule more meetings. Please pray that our traveling will be safe during the snow and ice.
Also this month, Marshall will be in his first Sunday School Christmas program. His class sings “Away in a Manger” and “Jesus Loves Me”. He knows all the words and is pretty much on key too! It’s so precious to hear him sing the songs.
Please pray for our colleagues in Australia as they prepare for the Christmas programs at their churches. Pray that the Australian people would be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading in their lives. Pray that they will see that He is needed in their lives.
We ask that you would continue to pray that our support would be raised quickly. We know that with God, all things are possible.
Thank you for praying for Meredith’s delivery. While it was not the easiest, God gave the strength to endure.
Our new addition—Meredith Jane was born on November 2. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 1/2” long. We are so very grateful for her to be here. Marshall loves to be around her and wants to hug and kiss her and hold her.
May God bless you this Christmas!

Dear Praying Friends,
We would like you to know that on Sunday, November 2 at 11:48 am our little girl Meredith Jane Pitts was born! She was 7 lbs. 3 oz., 19 1/2 inches long. She has a little bit of light brown hair and is a cute as a button! :)

November Prayer Letter
Many of you know that we have been specifically praying for our support to be at 60% by the end of this year. One of our missionary colleagues called this a “God sized prayer” because we cannot take any credit for that goal being reached. This past month two more churches have been led to support our ministry to Australia! Thank you to the churches who have part-nered with us financially. We are now around 40% of our needed support. Thank you so much for tak-ing part by praying with us for that goal to be reached.
I have done a lot of traveling these past two months and would like to thank you for praying for safety
and good meetings. I was encour-aged by all the churches I visited. I go trying to be a blessing to them and come away being so much more blessed by them!
With the baby due in just one week, we are staying around home, scheduling meetings for next year, and being put to work at our local church.
We hope that with Thanksgiving coming up in a couple weeks you will take time to slow down and thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon you. We will be thanking Him for all of you!
Thanksgivings for two new supporting churches!

The next time you will be reading our letter, Marshall’s picture will be accompanied by a sibling. Sara is due in seven days (and wishes it were sooner). Missionary appointees to Australia
We have many things to be thankful for! We were all able to attend the mission’s conference in Lebanon, Indiana at the beginning of the month. The people there were such a blessing to us. We thank the Lord for having met them.
Thank you for praying for my safety to Colorado for meetings. I had a great time and was even able to see the mountains and area sites.
Sara and the teen group at home was praying for me one Wednesday night that God would help with my loneliness. It was that same night that I saw a familiar face - Dave Handyside, whom I knew from Maranatha was at the same church. God had provided a friend at the perfect time. It was great to see how God had pro-vided an answer to Sara’s prayer even before she prayed it!
God supplied in many more ways this month. He supplied a place for me to stay while in between churches and He provided extra money for a rental car to drive to Colorado. Our home church was a great encouragement to Sara while Mark was gone also, thank you!
Please continue to pray that God will burden the hearts of people for the land of Australia!

Marshall is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his “sister” as he says, we don’t know if it will be a sister or brother. With only four weeks until the due date we ask that you pray that I will be home for the arrival of this little one.
Sara and I love to hear Marshall sing the songs he has learned at church and he loves to tell us all about the story they learned in class. Thank you to all who have taught him!

July 2008 Prayer Letter
Our family has been busy doing many fun summer things. Our sending church had its Bible School and our schedule allowed us to be home for all but one day. The kids were very excited to come every day and a number of them accepted Christ as their Savior. Please pray that we would continue to reach out to them and disciple them.
We also had the opportunity to update our home church one Sun-day night. Many other churches get to hear first-hand what we are doing and see our Power-Point so it was nice to be able to share with the home church.
Thank you for praying for our schedule to fill. Meetings are continuing to be scheduled for this and next year. Please pray that God would burden these churches for the Australian people.
Praise God for the individual who has started supporting our family. As we travel and pray for support, we know that God is the One who lays it on people’s hearts to give the support. Thank you for all of your prayers.
Marshall had a great time being a ladybug at Bible School. He still wants to wear his “hat” around town. Little baby Pitts is growing quickly and will be here in only 18 weeks! Mark has been very busy this past month finishing up school. We are very grateful that the school year has ended and he will have more time to spend on contacting pastors. He is very glad that the Lord has allowed him the opportunity to teach because he has learned many valuable lessons.
We had been praying for quite some time about trading our car in for a van. We are delighted to have found a nice van with low miles and a great price. God blessed us with the finances to move to a larger vehicle. It is so nice to have extra room while driving such far distances.
Thank you for praying for our fall schedule to fill up. We have scheduled quite a few more meetings. Please pray for these fall meetings; Sara will be nearing the end of the pregnancy and we will need wisdom in knowing when her traveling days should be over.
Please pray with us that the new video presentation we are working on will effectively convey the need of the Gospel in Australia.
Marshall is really enjoying the summer. He loves playing outside in his sandbox and just running all around the yard.

May 2008 Prayer Letter
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you so much for praying for us this past month. We have been very safe while we made two trips to Michigan and Wisconsin, and one trip to Nebraska. We are very thankful that our car is not having any problems getting us where we need to go. Thank you also for praying for Sara, she is feeling much better!
When people ask us how deputation is going, how long we project our deputation taking, and so on, we always include in our answer that God has certain things to teach us while on deputation. One of the things we have been learning lately is to be very flexible. That seems like a simple thing to learn, but it can be very complicated. Most people have a routine and may not even know it. Because we are always on the road going to new places and meeting new people, we don’t really have a routine. God can use the ability to be flexible in many different ways. If we are flexible, we will learn to rely on God’s perfect plan and not get upset when things don’t go according to our plan. Please pray for us that we will be able to glorify God through being flexible.
Our three mission’s conferences and 3 single meetings have kept us very busy lately. We met so many great people - church family and other missionaries. The fellowship and encouragement we received was marvelous. Marshall even had a great time making some new friends. He even made some animal friends!
Please continue to pray for Marshall that he will be saved as soon as he understands. Please pray for this new little one coming as well. Marshall’s new questions are - “Where did that come from?” and “What does that sound like Mama?” He is quite inquisitive. :)
The summer schedule is not very full, but Mark has been able to schedule quite a few more meetings for the fall and next year already. Please continue to pray that churches will see the need of Australia.
Please pray for our co-workers spread throughout the Melbourne, Australia area - Rob & Jackie Earnst, Phil & Lena Waters, John Wilburn, Don & Lola Winnans, and Steve & Jan Wivell.

April 2008 Prayer Letter
Dear Friends and Family,
Praise the Lord - He is providing! Our support level has risen to 40.7%. We are so thankful for a family who has been led to partner with us in reaching Australian’s for Christ! We have been praying that God would burden people’s hearts for Australians, thank you for partnering with us.
We also have some more good news - we will add another member to our family in November! Please pray for Sara, she is plagued with day-long morning sickness. Besides her being ill, we are all very excited. But then we are wondering how another person’s belongings are going to fit into the car!
This past month we were in Tennessee, Indiana, and Michigan. Each meeting was a great encouragement to us. In Tennessee, Mark was at the ground breaking ceremony for the church. He was glad to be able tosee how God was growing that church. The next week, during the conference in Indiana, he was able to go to Fair Oaks Farms, which produces around 250,000 gallons of milk a day! And during our last meeting of the month Marshall had a birthday party. The family we stayed with had cupcakes and cookies for him after church. It is fun to have these interesting little additions to our trips!
We are going to be very busy this next month and are very thankful that our schedule is getting full. Please continue to pray that we will have safety when traveling. Also, that we will minister effectively and be able to encourage those we meet along the way.
During the Easter weekend we celebrated Marshall’s second birthday. He had many family members there to share the special day with him. Marshall really is becoming his own little person. His food is “delicious” and things look “perfect” to him. He is just a fun little guy.

March 08 Prayer Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
We spent many days this past month in Kansas. We were very encouraged by the kind, sharing, and loving people we met along the way. Many of the people we met had us in their homes while we were in the area. We appreciate their great hospitality. Pray that we will be as encouraging to the people and pastors we meet as they are to us.
During one week in Kansas, Mark was able to have a special fellowship with Pastor Nathan Gast and some men from Fair Haven Baptist Church. He was also able to learn how to install molding with members from Oak Grove Baptist Church. He had a great time.
There were quite a number of winter storms and we arrived at our destinations before any of them got too bad. We praise God for His provision. Our vehicle also began having problems, but God allowed us to make it home without breaking down. Please pray that we can figure out what is wrong with our car and get it fixed soon.
We schedule meetings many months in advance and God planned it out that Mark would present our ministry and preach for two pastors who could use a break for the day. One pastor had been visiting his father who was ill and the other pastor had been sick with the flu. God in His sovereignty knows where and when He wants things to happen.
Marshall is turning two this month! He gets excited when we mention cake. He is talking in sentences and likes to pick out his own clothes. Marshall is a very funny boy and he LOVES to laugh. Please pray that he will accept Christ as his Savior as soon as he understands.
Please pray with us this month as we travel many miles. Pray that we will grow closer to the Lord and each other. Pray that we will strive to honor the Lord with our actions and choices we make. Please continue to pray that churches will partner with us in reaching Australian’s for Christ.

February Prayer Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
We had a rough start to this month. January is always a tricky month when traveling in the Northern Midwest. Our first weekend we were covered in fog all the way home from two great meetings in Wisconsin. The second weekend I was on my way to Hayward, Wisconsin, when I had to stop 200 miles away because of snow. After talking with the pastor, he kindly rescheduled for the summer. Thank you for praying for our safety. I saw four cars in the ditch and I was praising God that I was not in one of those cars.
Our meeting at Hazelwood Baptist in Clayton, Indiana, went very well. We had a great time talking with many of the young people and catching up with a few friends. We could tell that they loved missions what a blessing.
I have been quite busy with teaching and coaching many elementary basketball games. Sara and Marshall enjoy going to as many as they can. Marshall only likes to go because he gets to eat popcorn! Thank you for praying for me as I try and make good use of my time, please continue.
This month we will be in Mackinaw City, Michigan, and near Kansas City, Kansas. Please pray for safety as we travel. Also, please pray that churches would understand the great need in Australia and be willing to take part in reaching Australians for Christ.
A few weeks ago we were able to spend the afternoon with the Wivells, who are BMM missionaries in Melbourne. It was nice to hear about the new students at the Bible college and they encouraged us to stay faithful on deputation.
Thank you for all of your prayers, encouragement, and financial support.

January 2008 Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
Isn’t it amazing how quickly the year 2007 raced by us! It seems like just yesterday that the world was captivated by the Y2K scare and now eight years have gone by! Please pray that we will redeem the time and opportunities that God gives us in the coming year. This past year we have been to six states, participated in 22 meetings and conferences, and traveled thousands of miles. We were even blessed with the opportunity to travel to Australia to visit missionaries on the field. What a blessing that trip was! It made us desire to get to the field as soon as possible. Such extensive travel can be exhausting and trying on a family with a young child, but we serve a great God and He has blessed us beyond description. We seek to be a blessing to the churches we visit, but time after time we are the ones blessed by the wonderful people we have met along the way. We are looking forward to what this next year has in store for us. Marshall will turn two, I will finish my first year of teaching, we will celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary, and present our ministry at least 33 times! Pray that God we give us more opportunities for ministry and prepare us for the unexpected things that are sure to come.
Pray: that we will have continued safety while traveling
that God will supply us with the needed support to go to Australia
that we will be learning what God has for us each day
for Sara and me, that we will use our time wisely for the Lord
for Marshall, that he will be saved as soon as he understands the Gospel
Upcoming Schedule:
Jan 27- Hazelwood Bapt., Clayton, IN (pm)
Feb 3- Mackinaw City Bible, Mackinaw City, MI
Feb 10- Fair Haven Bapt., Bonner Springs, KS
Feb 17- Oak Grove Bapt., Kansas City, KS
Thank you so much for all of your prayers and financial support. God will bless your faithfulness.
In Christ,
Mark and Sara Pitts
December Prayer Letter--2007

Merry Christmas praying friends! I am so thankful for the fact that Jesus came to earth as a baby. I am also thankful that He grew up, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. What a WONDERFUL God we serve. This past November I went to a mission’s conference in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. It was a special conference because of the other missionaries who were there. Mr. Daub (my former missions teacher at Maranatha) is going back to Africa. Catherine McQuaid (we had a conference with her in March) is going to Papua New Guinea; and Melissa Carlson ( she recently graduated from Maranatha) is going to Sweden. It is nice to see that God can use people of any age. We also had a meeting in Boon, Michigan. Again, we were encouraged because the people were very interested in missions. Boon is also in a national forest and it was prime hunting season. God gave us safety through the rain, snow and from possible wildlife encounters. This month we will be visiting family, attending many Christmas parties and programs. It is nice to be able to slow down and enjoy being together as a family.
These past three months Marshall has grown two inches. He has a few sentences that he says already. On our Christmas tree there are two ornaments that he is allowed to play with and they are constantly going off and on the tree. Please continue to pray that as soon as he understands about Salvation that he will be saved.
Thank you for all of your prayers this year. God will bless you for your faithfulness. Paul said that fruit will be put to your account. Thank you!
November prayer letter
Dear Praying Friends,
The season is changing to Fall and many people’s lives are beginning to become more busy. Here at the Pitts’s home we are going to be slowing down at the end of this month. While it is encouraging to travel and meet great people, it will be nice to be home and spend some quiet time together as a family.
We want to thank you so much for praying for our safety. We just returned from Moorhead, Minnesota, which was our farthest deputation meeting. It took us only 13 ½ hours to get home. We had a great time during the missions conference and were really encouraged by the people’s excitement for world-wide missions.
Last weekend we met Pastor Odens, he had bee to Melbourne and had taught at Victoria Baptist Bible College. VBBC was started and is run by BMM missionaries. It is interesting to meet people who have connections with Australia.
Little Marshall is doing well. When he is at home he talks nonstop. He loves to draw puppies and he loves to watch his new fishy named Alfred.
Praises:
-
For our safety while traveling
-
That all of our needs have been met
-
For Mark (when he is home) that his classes are going well
Prayer Requests:
-
That our support would increase so we can go to Australia
-
That God would use us to minister while we are at churches
-
That we would continue to grow in the knowledge of Him
-
That Mark and Marshall would get better from their colds
In Christ,
Mark and Sara Pitts
