Burckart Hall Renovation
Burckart Hall is named for one of Maranatha’s first faculty members. Edward Burckart was born in New York, was a church planter in New Jersey for seven years, then pastored in Flint, Michigan, for seven years. Pastor Burckart resigned from Maranatha Baptist Church in Flint 40 years ago and moved his family to Watertown, Wisconsin. He agreed to be a part of the first faculty at Maranatha and came with no contract and no guarantees even of a salary. His violin playing blessed the students, and his Bible teaching encouraged them with the power of God’s Word. For the next 25 years, he served faithfully at Maranatha. Burckart Hall was the original chapel and then the library, and now serves as a fine arts recital hall and practice room. The room was the most beautiful on campus when Maranatha took possession of the property, but time has taken a toll on its beauty.
During the day, Burckart Hall is a rehearsal room for musical groups, but in the evening, it is transformed into a recital hall. To facilitate the most efficient usage and to take advantage of its beauty, the college has designated the renovation of Burckart Hall as its 40th anniversary development project this fall.
Improvements include an acoustic system, improved lighting, flooring, wall treatment, and lobby.

Why I gave to Burckart Hall
Amy and I were happy to give to the recent Alumni Association Burckart Hall Renovation Project because we love Maranatha. We love what the college has stood for over the last 41 years, what it stands for now and Lord willing what it will continue to stand for. We're more excited about what Maranatha is doing today in the area of education than when we were in school 25 years ago. The Lord is using Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Our prayer is that MBBC will continue to do all to the praise of His glory and we hope to be able to continue to contribute to our school for years to come. Pastor Earl ('88) & Amy (Romkee, '84) Martin
I am always moved to contribute to projects like the Alumni Association Burckart Hall Renovation Project because I dearly love Maranatha. Those were precious years, and I made many wonderful friends who also loved the Lord and have served Him faithfully for 30 years or more. I want to do everything I can to see that MBBC continues to prosper and train young people in His service. We can never repay the teachers, staff, and administration for all they taught and did for us so graciously and sacrificially while investing in our lives. We can, however, reinvest in the lives of others to show our sincere thankfulness in the name of those dear saints of God.It is also a way we can ensure that others coming behind us will follow our example and will reap the benefits of lessons learned in giving during hard times as well as in prosperous years. There is One for sure that we can never ‘out give’- God. Janne Thompson (’74)
We have many fond memories of Dr. Ed Burckart. He was a dear colleague and friend during the 11 years that we served together at MBBC (1977-88). He was an inspiring and gifted musician and Bible teacher. We believe that he left an exemplary and godly testimony for those students in whom he invested his life and it is our prayer that his testimony will live on to inspire the generations of Maranatha students to come to use their gifts for God's glory. Charles (’00) and Barbara Welner
My children are at the college and my son Caleb is very much involved in the fine arts program at Maranatha. I believe it is important to have things in good repair and looking sharp to bring proper glory to the Lord. I took Violin lessons with Dr. Burckart and also enjoyed his Bible teaching ministry in the classroom. Giving to the National Project is a way to show my love and appreciation for Maranatha. My gifts to the college are in reality offerings for the Lord and His work, making it an eternal investment. Vince(’84) and Beth(Lincoln, ’84) Kobosh
My wife, Carol, and I gave to the Alumni Association National Project because we are pleased to support the mission of Maranatha Baptist Bible College. In 1996, a group of praise singers from MBBC visited our church, Lifegate Baptist Church, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. At that time, I was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. I had submitted my resignation and was planning to leave the Air Force in May of 1997--I had no idea what I would do, only knew that I had had enough of the Air Force. When the praise group visited our Church, I had never heard of MBBC, but I was surprised to see that the college had a small science program for education majors. I later visited the campus and interviewed for a position as a science instructor at MBBC (two times---in 1996 and again in 1999). I never did enter the ministry at Maranatha, but have felt led of the Lord to support the mission of the college. Joe and Carol Drbohlav (friends, ’00)
I gave to the Burckart Hall Renovation project because of respect for Dr. Burckart and a love for Maranatha and what it is trying to do. Gerry (’76) and DeAn Mckee
