One desire of Maranatha Baptist Seminary is to send its students into the harvest field in as timely a manner as possible. One way to accomplish this goal is through our advanced placement programs:
If you’d like to finish your undergraduate and graduate training in just six years, take your undergraduate classes in Maranatha’s Bible and Church Ministries department where up to 28 seminary credits may also fulfill (double-count towards) undergraduate requirements.
Students in the Master of Arts programs may apply a maximum of 6 seminary hours to the undergraduate major. The list of courses is unique to a program:
- MA in Biblical Studies, Biblical Counseling, and English Bible:
- Old Testament Biblical Theology
- New Testament Biblical Theology
- American Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism
- MA in Cross-Cultural Studies:
- Cross-Cultural Church Planting
- Cross-Cultural Communications
- History of Christian Missions
- Students in the Master of Divinity program may apply a maximum of 28 master’s hours to their undergraduate major. These courses consist of:
- Hebrew Grammar
- Greek Exegesis
- Greek Syntax
- Old Testament Biblical Theology
- New Testament Biblical Theology
- Exposition of Isaiah
- Exposition of Pastoral Epistles
- Apologetics and Worldviews
- American Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism
- Church Administration, Finance and Law
- Pastoral Counseling
Please note that these do not reduce the sizes of the master’s programs. The courses listed above are all taught at the seminary level; they do, however, meet the competency requirements for the undergraduate degree.
Even if you didn’t get your undergraduate from Maranatha, if you graduated from a Bible college, you may be allowed to waive up to 16 credits for certain undergraduate classes in which you earned at least a B for the Master of Divinity program. Classes include:
- Hebrew Grammar
- Greek Exegesis
- Greek Syntax
- Old Testament Biblical Theology
- New Testament Biblical Theology
- Exposition of Isaiah
- Exposition of Pastoral Epistles
- Apologetics and Worldviews
- American Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism
- Church Administration, Finance and Law
- Pastoral Counseling
The Seminary may request a copy of the class syllabus to ensure sufficient content. The Seminary may require students to take directed studies to make up deficiencies.
