Heidi Malmanger Braughler
Heidi Malmanger Braughler has taught math at Maranatha Baptist Academy since 1996, starting right after she graduated from MBBC. ”The Lord truly gave me the desires of my heart,” she said. “I never dreamed I would be given the chance to teach at the high school I graduated from.” Heidi has also aided the Academy by coaching Bible Quiz teams as well as coaching volleyball, girls’ soccer, and softball. Leah Otte
Leah Otte teaches history at Wisconsin’s Cambridge Elementary School. Recently, she educated her students about ancient Chinese culture by having them create their own terra-cotta soldiers (presumably not life-size). They also discussed the tomb of the first Chinese emperor. (This link will take you to a National Geographic story about the original warriors.) I guess I should have asked if she also planned for students to build her a royal burial vault! More

Marsha Jackson
Marsha and her husband came to MBBC in the fall of 1987, and she began teaching math at Maranatha Baptist Academy. Before that time, she had been a full-time mother to four children—Scott, Brad, Kim and Shera. After 10 years in the Academy, Marsha began teaching at the college level, and has served there for 11 years. She has also served as the advisor to freshman and sophomore elementary education majors, helping them get off to a solid start as they try to figure out the demands and requirements of their major. Photoshop
Photoshop? How did that become an important part of my teaching?

(No, it’s not an ongoing attempt to make myself look taller and/or thinner for my yearbook photo). I’m surprised how often I need to use photo editing software as I prepare for my classes. More |

Digital Library Collections Mike Zwolanek Have you ever had the experience of searching the Web for just the right picture for your class? Perhaps you were looking for a good resource to direct your students toward? In both cases, it’s not always as easy as it seems it should be. Sometimes you can locate just the right media, but find that it’s under copyright protection. Or, for some other reason, it’s not usable for what you had in mind. While it’s no panacea for your problem, a helpful resource may be the website of the Library of Congress. More
