1. Academic Programs.

A core group of Bible and General Studies classes is required, but students can pursue 27 majors, 39 minors, and 6 Seminary degrees. In addition to our full-time ministry majors, we offer Biology (including a Pre-Med track), Business, Education, Humanities (Pre-Professional), Music, Nursing and much, much more.

2. Regionally Accredited Status.

Our students can gain admittance to graduate and professional schools without the difficulties often faced by graduates of unaccredited or “nationally accredited” colleges.

3. Ministry Opportunities.

Our students are organized into dormitory societies active in community outreach, street witnessing, and mentoring in juvenile detention centers. They also minister in nursing homes, crisis pregnancy centers, and homeless shelters. Global Encounters teams witness all over the world during the summer.

4. Local Church Involvement.

Maranatha students are required to attend a local church. Students were active in the ministry of more than 90 churches during the 2008-09 school year. There is no campus “church.”

5. Competitively Priced Education.

We are significantly less expensive than most regionally accredited private four-year colleges, and nearly 80 percent of our students receive some type of financial aid. Maranatha students are eligible for nearly all federal, state, and private grants, loans, and scholarships.

6. Fine Arts Opportunities.

Nearly a quarter of the student body participated in Fine Arts activities last year, including three choirs, band, orchestra, percussion ensemble, and several top-quality speech contests and drama productions.

7. Athletic Opportunities.

Nearly a quarter of the student body participated in athletic programs last year. Maranatha fields 11 NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports teams. Students may also participate in an extensive intramural athletics program.

8. Leadership Opportunities.

Maranatha’s mission is to produce leaders. Students can take active leadership roles in dormitories, societies, classes, student body activities, and ministry teams.

9. Fundamental Baptist Position.

Maranatha is committed to the authority of God’s Word. It is independent, Baptist, and fundamental in its approach and dispensational in its theology.

10. A Caring Campus.

Maranatha does set reasonable expectations for student behavior. Those standards are enforced with genuine concern, not a mean or oppressive spirit.
