 Name: Jesse Sherburn

Graduated: 2004

Further study: Mississippi State University, master’s de­gree (2007) and PhD (2010), mechanical engineering.

Professional highlights: Sherburn studied and worked at the Institute for Creation Research while completing his graduate degrees. Dur­ing the sixth International Conference on Creationism in August of 2008, Sher­burn produced a series of computer simulations that helped bolster the argument that the Ice Age could have taken place over a time span as short as 700 years (500 advancing, 200 retreating), rather than tens of thousands or even millions of years.

Name: Kelly (Maples) Culp

Resides: Denver

Professional highlights: Culp operates her own business law practice in the Denver area.

Further study: University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (1998- 99), University of Wisconsin School of Medicine (2003)

Resides: Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico

Professional highlights: Dr. Brock was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his work establishing a pediatric medical center in Iraq and has been nominated for Air Combat Command Pediatrician of the Year and the Air Force Medical Service Clinical Excellence Award.

Quote: “I was able to be an ambassador for freedom and an ambassador for the Lord. It’s kind of cool to have a job like that.”

Name: Steve Taylor

Graduated: 2003

Further study: Massachu­setts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, master’s degree (2008).

Resides: Columbus, Wisconsin

Professional highlights: Considering Physician Assis­tant positions in neurosurgery, internal medicine, and family practice at area hospitals.

Quote: “I am not called to be a missionary, but I would like to have some involvement with medical missions. God has already blessed me with a great opportunity through Medical Missions Outreach.”

Name: Lisa Walker England

Graduated: 2007

Further study: MA in English, University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee (2009)

Resides: Milwaukee

Professional highlights: England was accepted into the PhD program in Rheto­ric at UW-Milwaukee but believed God was calling her instead to the Master of Fine Arts program for Screenwrit­ing at Regent University, which she entered in fall 2009. She has written a short film script currently under consideration for production and was a finalist in the 168 Project’s Write of Passage Screenwriting Competition.

Quote: “I have found the most fruitful avenues for talking about the Lord here have been in classes that were geared toward philoso­phy. When you are talking to people at those levels, there are a lot of opportunities to witness.”

Name: Nathan England

Graduated: 2008 (master’s degree)

Further study: UW-Milwau­kee, PhD student, Intercul­tural Communications.

Resides: Milwaukee

Professional highlights: England is an educational consultant and also a teach­ing assistant at UW-Milwau­kee while completing his PhD in Intercultural Communica­tions. He hopes to eventually teach communication theory overseas.

Quote: “I will be able to teach nearly anywhere in the fields of communication and economic research at a research-centered university. The research and writing skills I gained in Maranatha’s programs are the strongest contribution my past educa­tion has provided for me.”

Name: Naomi Maunu

Graduated: 2006

Further study: Doctor of Physical Therapy, Southwest Baptist University (2009)

Resides: Springfield, Missouri

Professional highlights: Outpatient orthopedic practice with Peak Perfor­mance. Completing certifica­tion requirements for pelvic rehabilitation. Won research project award and took part in medical missions trip to El Salvador while completing doctoral work.

Quote: “As far as biological sciences go, my education at Maranatha was excellent groundwork for what was to come. If anything, that level of preparation takes away the scary part of high-level science classes.”

Name: Ryan Licht

Graduated: 2006

Further study: Liberty Uni­versity School of Law (2009)

Resides: Wauwatosa, Wis­consin

Professional highlights: After graduating from law school in May and passing the Wisconsin bar exam in July, Licht was hired as a Rev­enue Officer by the Internal Revenue Service.

Quote: “I work a wide range of tax issues, from individual taxpayers who don’t file taxes to helping businesses with their Federal Tax Deposits and other payroll issues.”
