WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Maranatha Crusader men’s soccer team fell 3-0 to the Eagles of Edgewood College in a Northern Athletics Conference game on Thursday afternoon. The Crusaders fall to 1-8 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 8-2.

The Crusaders played well against the tough Eagles squad. The Eagles struck first in the 30th minute when Andry Apetry scored off a pass from Anthony Colletti. In the last minute of the first half, the Crusaders committed a bad foul in front of the goal just outside the penalty box, and Tyler Duellman scored on the ensuing direct kick.

After Head Coach Jeff Pill made some adjustments at halftime, the Crusaders produced numerous offensive chances including a flurry of point blank shots in the 52nd minute. However, the Crusaders could not find the net, and the Eagles scored an additional goal in the 67th minute. The Crusaders outshot the Eagles 16-7 in the second frame.

“I was pleased with everything but the result,” Coach Pill said. “We made some adjustments at half that seemed to make a difference on the offensive end.”

The Crusaders (4-10, 1-8) will travel to Chicagoland on Friday to face Concordia University in a men’s and women’s soccer doubleheader. The women’s game will start at 12:30 p.m., and the men’s game will follow at 2:30 p.m.
