Maranatha Baptist Bible College has at its core the Great Commission. Our purpose is to train the next generation of Christian leaders to live by the maxim “Life is ministry.” As the great missionary statesman William Carey said, “Attempt great things for God; expect great things from God.” Maranatha’s history validates its commitment to encouraging students to attempt great things for God in ministry around the globe. From the cosmopolitan urban centers of Western Europe to the remote hill country of Irian Jaya, Maranatha alumni faithfully serve the Lord.
Maranatha’s commitment to world evangelization continues in the present. Faculty and students have been blessed with the opportunity to focus strategically on a restricted access country. Teams partner with local national churches to evangelize and disciple. Faculty members will continue to travel to countries such as India, Africa, and Southeast Asia, helping train nationals to be better pastors, evangelists, and missionaries in their countries.
As Maranatha enters the next millennium, though, its emphasis on global evangelism must intensify. We must prepare Christian servants equipped to shine as lights in world where spiritual darkness becomes more pervasive. To this end, the Global Encounter Project reflects Maranatha’s strategy for preparing and placing our students and faculty into international ministry.
